You get what you paid for
This is a huge campground with at least seven different loops. And they have a designated loop that is first come first serve which Is hard to find nowadays. The bathrooms in Loop E are horrible. And all the fire pits haven’t been cleaned in days. The walk to the shore and the surroundings are beautiful, Please keep your lights off at night So we can enjoy the outdoors.

Rude Young Employees
The park is beautiful but the young people running the gate entrance are rude and seem to be uninterested in working or helping campers. They talk down to visitors after we’ve paid for the privilege of camping.

Great Amount Of Space Between Sites
Stayed in the winter, loop B of crosswinds park. Water at site is turned off in winter months but can fill tanks at dump station on the way in (potable water is marked).
Could see lake between the trees. Very clean site well maintained site. Although showers are on a push timer and were a little slimy they were hot!
Nice walking trail through the woods, small beach areas accessible from many sites.
Firewood is available to buy and also from the gas stations nearby. Aldi and food lion also short drive away for those who leave all the bacon, eggs and bread at home...oops!

Mud Feels Like Poop Between Your Toes
We stayed here in our RV for a night on our way through after a bad string of Walmart's.
Down in E loop, there was a few good non-electric sites right on the water that we parked at. The water was beautiful to swim in. The mud, not as beautiful, but still nice. Also had a great view of the starry night sky down on the waters edge.
The shower were a bit how ya going, with sensors instead of taps. Still gets the job done but...
Anyways, great place to stay. Definitely recommend.

Cheap, Easy, Available and Close To Home
Plenty of sites, average lake, average state park vibe. Great if you have a boat. Bathrooms are average. Not far from civilization. No complaints, no backflips.

Favorite Camp Site
This Is our favorite campsite. We’ve don’t both tent camping and now travel trailer camping. We always get a spot on the water because we have two Labradors. They can run and swim all day. Highly recommend this campground and the lake in general.

Shady, Quiet, Spacious Sites
This was our first visit to Poplar Point. Our site was G-7. Not on water but great. One word of caution is that there is abundant poison ivy and poison oak around most of the campsites (but we are in the woods, after all).

Good State Park Campground
We stayed here over Labor Day weekend and although busy, it was not packed. We have a 38 foot motorhome and it was easy enough navigating. Couple of items to note are: Only 30 amp and likey will have to wait for dump stations during peak checkout times. Nice campground with plenty of space in between most sites, some waterfront. Good hiking trails and plenty to do in area. We'll visit again.

Quiet and relaxing
Beautiful campground with spacious lots that have privacy and water views / access. Enjoy a campfire while sitting around a picnic table or enjoy boating/jetskis/fishing right from your campsite. Nice boat ramp located inside the park.

Captain
Stopped for 3 nights and thrilled with the clean, quiet, beautiful campground. We stayed in B22 at Poplar Point, an easy pull thru site. Many sites overlook the lake (not ours) but they are back-in sites. They look easy enough that next time I'll get a site on the water.

Best Kept Secret
We absolutely love going to Popular Point. It is so serene. Watching eagles & other birds is so relaxing. Best kept secret in the Raleigh area
