So Glad We Stopped Stayed 3 Days
Stayed in March/Assateague NS and Chincoteague have both been on my "list" for a while. C Nat Wildlife refuge was nothing to get excited about.... but Assateague in March is pretty spectacular. Def look to stay on the Bayside CG as the oceanside may have a sunrise but comes w sandstorms when windy, sandspurs in doogie paws, and doesnt have the Bayside photo opportunities of ponies walking by the campsites in the Marsh. One of the Bayside loops doesn't allow generators but we didn't hear them w windows closed due to temps in the 30s. Lots of sites available in March so we drove around and looked before paying. Kind of pricey for NP but we pay half w access pass. No services where we stayed (think some have electric) vault toilets were pretty clean, we used dump for Grey water before we left the park. As the adjoining state park wasn't open yet we parked in that parking lot for beach access which was wonderful and we were only ones there!

Amazing
Easy paved, roads and sites. Zero connections, & some areas allow generators. There is a pit toilet available in the Bayside loop. We really enjoyed the Bayside because the winds weren’t blowing the sand at us as bad and the views were still really pretty of the marsh. The campers on the beach were having sand blasted on the rigs, and probably inside. Outdoor mats were completely covered in sand! It was a very windy day though 20-30mph winds- so we were happy to be on the Bayside loop, when it got to be nice out it was an easy walk to the beach.

Bayside Loop A
Bayside loop A great. Well maintained. Clean pit toilets. Dumpster next to bathroom. Water at bathroom with room to back in to fill up. No dump. TMobile not great coverage. Verizon 5 bars, great coverage. Horses walked through campground. Generators allowed 6am to 10pm. Sites half price with Lifetime Senior pass, $30 in off season so we paid $15 a night.
