Refugio
Tight quarters. Very nice and clean amenities. 45 dollars per night with a noon check out. Sadly, the camp is dog friendly but the beach is not!

Bonne Ambiance

Ranger Rick Of The 70s( Early 80s)
I grew up here with ranger Rick in the 70s. Enough said. I love this place and will be back soon.

Great Place To Bring The Family
I've been staying here for years, it's a park and camp. Typical now a days.
The beach is beautiful, clear water, whales come very close to shore when its season, good diving with shallow reefs and kelp. Good Speer fishing with halibut, opaleye, perch, calico bass in abundance here.
Lobsters every where if you know where to look.
The park employees are helpful and friendly.
Its tight camping areas, but its high demand being so near big city's.
Its clean and used, but it is beach camping with the family and friends!

Very Nice Campground.
Great beach. Nice views. Wide camping spots. I don't give it 5 stars because they do not have beachfront spots for RVs and all dry camping. Otherwise. Very nice.

Small Camp Ground Right On The Beach
I stayed there in September during a heat wave. It was even hot near the beach. There are two areas. If you go right from the check in point you can get to the beach from your camp spot. If you camp to the left, you won't have access to the beach because there's a rock wall that's difficult to climb over.
The tent spots were small. We paid $45 for a tent spot and an additional $10 for an extra car overnight. It was packed with RVs and some tents, but it was very quiet at night. Even though it's right next to the freeway, we really didn't hear it. A train came by twice in one day, but not at night.
Showers were .25 cents per minute. There were 2 bathroom areas per side. The bathrooms near us had 4 toilets and two showers. They were clean over our two day stay. But, there's no soap in the toilet rooms, so take your own to wash up. The store was closed in September. It would have been nice to buy ice.

Not Worth An Extended Stay
The beach is really nice. This would be a good option for a beach day. People were SUPing and canoeing and swimming.
We spent the night and regretted it. The camp ground is shabby and cramped. Premium sites are not necessarily better. There is noise from the highway and the railroad tracks above the grounds pretty much all night. Bathroom were cleaned in the morning but we noticed a smell when we arrived--consider spots further from bathrooms if you must stop here for the night. The park host sells firewood for $6.
