Calm

Spent two nights middle of the week, two weeks before Labor Day and at most, 4 out of 10 spots were occupied so very quiet. Spot was pretty level and each spot has room for an rv as well as a tent. Be aware, Texas charges per person ($7 each) in addition to the per night charge. It gets pricey pretty fast if you don’t have a yearly pass. Lots of wild oak and cedar around the camp and the woods look like they are just waiting for a match. The day use area down by the river has lots of parking and easy access for tubing or just hanging out. As the sign says, “The river does not flow around in a circle. You will not get out where you got in.” The restrooms have just been rebuilt and ate STELLAR! Clean, soap, hand sanitizer, well lit and air conditioned, nicer than many hotel chain bathrooms. Did I mention free showers with good pressure? From what we saw, pretty nice.

Sweet Spot

Found this place because the state park was full and it was close by and on the river. We checked in before reading the reviews and might have shied away because of them, but we're glad we stayed. The people who live/manage here are friendly, we had river access and spent the day fishing (bass and catfish) and it was peaceful.

3 stars for the river

River is great. ONLY reason to come here. Campgrounds are pretty poor. There are many wonderful hill country trails but these are pathetic.

Rude And Trashy

We reserved an RV site for 2 nites at $45/nite and a tent site at $10/nite. When we were in the area we drove thru the park just to plan when we brought the trailer. The place was a dump, trash and broke down units throughout the park. I wouldn't bathe my dogs in the bathhouse, and there is no river access as depicted on their site. I called to cancel our reservation 2 weeks prior to our date and expected a $20 cancel fee but was charged $40, she said it was 2 sites 2 cancellation fees. The tent site was only $10 to begin with. Guess they have to make money somehow. There are many other nice parks in this area, don't waste your $ on this one. She was rude when asked about it and invited me to share our experience, so I am.
