Don't Want Campers

You must call for a reservation at least a day in advance, for a minimum of 2 nights. There's no sewer hook-ups. I just checked it out, but didn't stay. Normally I like fairground camping. This one seems to not want campers.

Camper

Not a bad place to stay. My two biggest complaints were 1. The grass hasn't been mowed in weeks, tall grass and in the morning or late evening your shoes and pants get soaked from the dew and its just not pleasant having this tall of grass at your campsite. 2. Very close to a busy busy street. Now the good stuff. Staff extremely friendly very welcoming, its close to were we needed to be this weekend. Could be a beautiful camping area if better maintanance happened. The price is high I thought for what you get. Mow the grass and this would have been a 5 star.

Home Ward Bound

Checked in at the fairgrounds office. We had made reservations the day before. The office staff is very helpful, gave us a Rapid City visitors Guide and a calendar of events. Was guilded to the camping area. Long gravel parking areas with back to back on one strip. Drive through if you're the first one there. Own 50/30 amp service. Four spots share the same water so bring your "Y" fitting with you. Grassy area between camping strips with a picnic table. There is street noise. We used the camp spot as a base for sightseeing in a hundred mile radius. Shower are available with a pass code we didn't use- used our own. The dump station is behind the event center in the detection of the office. Its not set in the quiet woods with a nice stream running by. There is camping like that in Custer state park and towns around it. It is what it is. I would come back.

It would of been a nice place but the restrooms were not cleaned in the 10 days we where here.
