Location, location, location - right on entry to NP - we were on road sites but NP / Caverns closed at 5:00 so not a big deal - reviews on bathrooms are correct - a zero on bathrooms but we are self contained and had full hook up so did not use

Not That Bad

Lots of negative reviews, ignore them. This is a very basic no frills park very close to the CCNP. There are some sites near the road but not on the sholder and there's very little traffic. There are several very adequate pull through sites down by the restroom building which also contains a nice laundry room, 3 washing machines and 3 dryers. The toilets are in a big room with a drain in the middle, no shower curtain which never gets more than a 4 on my 1-10 shower scale especially since they are not heated or cooled but they are adequately clean and the water is hot.

Right Next To Caverns

This site had no frills. We were parked right along the main road leading to Carlsbad Caverns. The laundry facility was clean and close by. It was great for a night or two because it was so close to the caverns, which was our reason for being here. I would stay again for that reason only, as it felt like we were parked on a highway shoulder that happened to have full hook-ups.

How Can This Place Be Called An RV Park?

On the positive side, they do have 50 Amp service, water and sewer hook-ups and you are a stone’s throw from the entrance to Carlsbad Caverns National Park, BUT.... ...to quote other reviewers of this RV Park, “What a dump!” Their is only one men’s and one women’s bathroom. The bathrooms have one toilet and an open shower area all in the same room. If a person is using the shower, there is no toilet available. Both bathrooms need a lot of work and are not very clean. The sites are tight together and several of them are backed right up to a large propane tank. All for $42.00 a night. In addition, the guy at the front desk of the hotel (location for late check-in for the RV Park) was very rude to the guest ahead of me. He kept telling the guest to “be quiet“ while the guest was trying to ask questions. I will never go back to this “RV Park”(?) again!!!

Turds Everywhere

Check-in was a nightmare of unnecessary details and extended confusion. Still ended up getting wrong kind of site and had to change. Sites are gross—actual turds and trash everywhere. Back/lower sites are loose dirt so that any water turns to mud. Bathrooms are not cooled or heated. Nothing. It’s close to caverns, there’s that. All for fifty bucks. We won’t be staying here again. Nope.

Don’t stay here. It’s icky. No heater in the bathrooms. Half the people here, live here. This place needs a lot of work. Costs us $42. Wayyyyy over priced. Just trust me!

Overpriced For What You Get

The new owners are trying to improve the place, so please take that into consideration. We were there for a week. Level gravel lots, very tight. On the ends you have to share the same picnic table in certain sites. Other spots are right on the roadway on a dirt area on the side of the road. Laundry is reasonably priced. Many of the people there are permanent or semi permanent residents. Nice people, fairly quiet except early mornings as all the welders idle their trucks for 30 minutes. We're early risers, so didn't really bother us. No private showers. Group showers only. Overall, not somewhere we would stay again

Convenient

Good location when you watch the bat flight at night and have small children. We had hookups but it was on the side of the road, literally. We drove atound looking for the check in since signs were misleading and finally found it at the white city inn across the street thanks to other reviews. Good in a pinch but wouldn't stay again if we had another option.

Bad bathrooms

We stayed here in July 2019,in a tent.The campsites are decent with water available.The problem was the bathrooms.No shower curtain or door on the showers.This is completely unacceptable!Also there was no electrical outlets in the bathroom.The bathroom screen door was also damaged,very dirty & hot bathroom!

Can't Beat Location To The Caverns

Stayed one night. Got in late and left early the next morning to see the caves and continue our travels. Basically a parking spot with full hook ups. Very level. Plenty of space. No issues with check-in (after hours is at the motel across the street), noise or neighbors (also families there to see the caves). Dog park (not fenced) is also the kids playground. Didn't appear heavily used by either kids or dogs. Would stay here again if we came back to the caverns. Use caution driving on highway 285.

Stayed two nights. Reservation was not required, convenient, because it is at the entrance to the park. Checked out the bathroom and showers, but did not use, very run down and dirty. The odor alone would gag a maggot. We did use the laundry room at the end of the strip mall, very clean all new machines.

Under New Ownership

This place has some harsh reviews, but I visited with the guy checking me in and learned they are under new ownership. We stayed 2 days and here’s what you need to know. 1. It’s clean 2. RV sites are full service and level 3. 24hr check-in, before 7pm at the gift shop after 7pm at the hotel. 4. Amenities include: post office, gift shop, restaurant, laundry, small playground, one remodeled bath house, one scary bath house, free WiFi, gas station, and hotel onsite as well. 5. There is tent and RV camping both are nice given you are camping in a desert. If you are expecting trees and grass you won’t find much of that in a desert. I’m a picky camper and I was truly dreading my stay based on the reviews of other travelers. In my opinion this place is unnecessarily getting bad reviews. I will definitely stay again.

Close To NP

The park is right at the gate. You can’t beat that. $40 with good Sam discount, I found it quite pricey due to sites are in overflow area and right by the road. All the sites are back in.The bathroom is okay, clean , nothing fancy. Laundry is clean. I camped in my class B.

Improvements Have Been Made !

Ten slots side to side about 80 foot off highway on a gravel lot. Not a lot of traffic. 43$ a night. Have water, 30/50, sewer hook up. Did not use wifi or tv. Ok for an overnight spot close to the canyons. Wouldn’t want to stay longer as it is pretty unkempt. Only one Bathroom/toilet shower head in a cement room. No frills. Not the cleanest. RV parking area is flooded.

Great RV park. Just a parking area but level and good hookups. Management was very helpful. (Mike). Restaurant across road was great, nice folks. Diesel 200 yards away. Close to the caves. Easy in and out. I’d definitely stay here again !! 4 stars.

Only Good Thing Is Location

Closest to pk. Ok for 1 night. Table but too windy to use. Sites o n the side of the road. Probably the worse is the bathroom is one room with toilet and shower. You could have a long wait. Laundry room was a welcome surprise but 2 machines out of order.

Skip The Stop

Skip this Rv park no matter how tempting it is due to its proximity to Carlsbad National Park. We tried to stay there but it is not set up for tourists. The spaces are tiny and very narrow. You feel like you are a bother to the staff. For all that you can’t make reservations which ends up being fortunate. After checking out the spaces we left and headed to Texas. You are better off staying at a hotel in Carlsbad than trying this campsite.

Close To Caverns

This park is fine for a night or 2. It is right at the entrance to the caverns and there is a store, fuel and restaurant so it took care of the necessities. There are a lot of full timers but we had no problems. The park just needs some TLC.

Not Good

Not a very nice park. Very, very tight spaces. It's extremely unorganized. Not clear on where you need to go to pay. Would not stay here again. The only good is how close it is to the Caverns. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Had No Issues

Stayed in a Thursday. Full hook ups. Lil store. Close to caverns. I didn't like the goat head thorns every where. I would stay here again. Theo helped us at the registration. He was good. Got us in and out.

Only good thing about this park is the proximity to the Caverns. Very close Drive. Otherwise don't expect too much at this RV park or anywhere in Carlsbad. It is a dry dusty town. Was nice to visit, and nice to leave it, in the dust. Spots are not marked well, so talk to someone who is staying there to make sure you're in the right spot. Bathrooms are sketchy... no AC. Doors always open and no shower curtains for privacy.

Close To Caverns

Very disorganized management. Couldn't get a straight answer on whether or not there was a site open so we had to risk the drive. Sites are VERY tight, but if you need an overnight and don't expect much its fine.

Best thing about​ this park is that it's only 7 miles from Carlsbad Caverns. You cannot make reservations since it's on a first come first serve basis. The young lady answering​ phone was not even sure as to their location when I called from the road. Upon arrival the lady behind the counter who seemed to be training the young lady was not friendly at all! No instructions on wifi, cable, not even a map to show the location of your spot! There were two areas to park but nothing clearly marked. Gravel park, spots are very close together and park needs a lot of updating! Even the restroom building looked outdated, was afraid to check them out! Too bad that's the closest to the Caverns. I'm guessing with some improvements they could really be bringing in the customers.

Desert Star

People were not friendly, will not allow a 50 amp on a 30 amp plug. Not very helpful over the phone, could have been due to busy time. It's close to caverns. Good for a night, if you can get a spot. Did get a 50A but had to risk a 30 mile pull due to first come first serve policy.

Okay For A Night

This park has seen better days. It is very close, and the only place close to the caverns. We were disappointed with the selection of RV parks near such a great National Monument. This really is the only game in town unless you want to drive many miles to see the caves.

Close To The Caverns

The only thing it has to offer is its closeness to the caverns. They gave away our spot to someone else. They either turn off the electricity at around midnight or they limit the output. Don't assume you will be able to use your ac all night. 22 miles away from the city.
