Wild Rivers is a relatively remote area with quiet, dark nights, hiking, remarkable views of the Red River Canyon and the 800 foot deep Rio Grande Gorge. This is a BLM semi-primitive campground: gravel somewhat level sites (bring your blocks), shelters, fire rings, water available, clean pit toilets (by pit toilet standards), no sewer or dump station. Some sites are to small for today's average RV. Very tight limited sites for big rigs. It is about 20 miles to a store or fuel. Fairly reliable 3G service. No reservations. The campground was clean and open year round. There are 3 other small campgrounds near. The visitor center is open Thursday through Monday during the summer season. We camped in a 25 foot trailer. We will surely be back, again, in the spring or fall: summers are hot and winters are cold.
