Awesome Little Park
We stayed early in the season so park was very empty and quiet. Had deer 20’ from camper every morning when we woke up. Found a couple of deer sheds in the woods. Big lake was closed to fishing because of covid. Has a small pond that we caught some bluegils on . Joeys place in charelston has some awesome food!! For an Illinois park it was very nice. Good trails to walk throughout the park. Never went in the bathrooms or showers so ?

Stayed for 4 nights during the week with reservation in front loop of the park. Great sites and hiking trails. The only reason I give it 4 stars is due to lack of water at each site. Did not use washroom facilities because we stayed in TT. Definitely a fantastic, very clean Illinois State park.

Nice Smaller Park
We like this little park. The front loop of campsites can be reserved online, but the back loop is first come - first served. We like that we can usually pull in and pick out a spot, even if we decided to go at the last minute. The hosts that were there in the past were always helpful, but the last time we stayed the park was without a host, and it made a difference - just little things the host would not have allowed were going on. Hopefully they will fill that position soon.

Stayed in one of two cabins and had a BLAST. Nice park on park rating it's small but in the middle of a farming community. The park staff was helpful and nice. The cannon was cute but the bedding was paper thin, bring an air bed or padding. Fishing was good and it had a few nice trails. Cabin had heat but the restroom was a good walk away.
