Very nice park, with friendly rangers, nice clean restrooms, a new playground for the kids and some fun hiking trails. Most the of campground spaces aren’t immediately next to each other, so you have a bit more privacy than some other campgrounds. The only down side was that I had space #25 which is a back in site (which is fine) bit the picnic table and fire pit was on the left side of the driveway and our camper and trailer awning was on the other side. Something to consider when you select a spot. You can burn word here in the fire pit, although you must buy the wood at the ranger check in station for $5/bundle (cash only). Still an amazing experience and the kids had a blast.

Been Camping Here 30+ Years
I have been camping here since I was a teen. Beautiful park and continually improving. Camped in everything and all areas. Very safe campground with great hiking trails and attentive Rangers. Great for families and low key camping trips. 10 min from bomb Julian Apple Pie!

We used to come to this lovely park in the 90s. We eventually transitioned from tent camping to a 5th wheel. At the time Heise was not well equipped to handle RVs.
The park underwent renovation and RV sites were added. Now we're adding Heise to our schedule for weekend getaways.
