Stayed October 2019. Restroom has 2 showers, 2 sinks, 2 toilets - 1 shower didn’t have a shower head, the shower that did have a shower head had lukewarm water after 2 quarters (started out cold and never got warmer after 4 more quarters), one sink clogged with dead bugs n debris, poison oak all over so stay on paths only. Campsite itself ok tho fire pit had lots of broken bottles in it. Didn’t see any redwoods in campsite.

Conveniently Located
Stayed on a Wed w/ no reservation may 1st arrived at dusk. campgrounds are located right off the main road 6 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz & the roaring camp railroad (definitely worth the visit to see some bigger redwoods than are at the camp sights, still not old growth, but worth checking out -free. If you’re into trains there are 2 routes available well worth the $. Hint...I think you can save $10 by parking at redwood grove instead of train park but not 100% sure, also coupons at the campsite for train tours. If you can afford it, all $ goes to the great cause of preserving the trains and the area). Back to campsite... we were car/tent camping- sites were nicely separated and fairly private for a RV campground bc there is pretty much a separate tent sight loop. Bathrooms are in great condition w hot water & well lit w/ the rest of the area very dark-nice for stars. Super easy check in even though it was after hours w/ all available sites listed & clear instruction.

Stayed here 4 nights early Oct on our multi week trip, typical state campground that's understaffed, bathrooms were ok, large site for our small camper, lots of hiking trails in the park.

Mezmorized With All The Trees.
Amazingly thick with trees. The camp area does not have any of the giants but has many very large redwoods sprinkled about Very beautiful.

I thought we would have been camping in the tall redwoods.
This park was full of poison oak.
They could spend some time cleaning debris and should not allow fires until they have done so.
Not too many sites for larger rv.
Very crowded in the summer months.
Some positive things were that it was close to places to go to such as Santa Cruz, Roaring Camp Railroad and Henry Cowell Day Park. The day park has the tall redwoods and hiking trails.
The restrooms were fairly clean for as busy as they are and fairly nice size showers.
