We stayed at the Whittleton campground which is a State Park. There is also the Middle Fork Campground as part of the State Park. You are to make reservations online at lease 2 days ahead. If you want a site the same day, stop at the campground and ask the attendant. Cash only.
Weekends are usually full.
Whittleton campground is beautiful but the sites are small and difficult to get into if you are long. There are only 15 sites with water and electric. More with water only.

Great place. We had a spot along the creek. It was very peacefully with lots of trails to take to the natural bridge.

I stayed at the whittleton campground which I was told is the park campground now. They have 2 campsites I stayed at the one without an office. Had to go to the other to find what is available then drive to this one and see what I want then drive back and pay/check in. Was well worth it, went to sleep listening to a burbling creek not 20’ from my camper, other campers were very friendly, some were up late but all I could here was a murmur of voices, rather relaxing also. Mountains all around, do not expect to use your cell phone.
