Stayed Here Sept 11, 2024
Very nice park. We stayed here instead of the NP due to having showers. Would stay again as long as it wasn't summer and beach season. Bathhouse was nice. No quarters required! Sites r kind of close together but this time of year everyone seems to be older, retired and kids r back to school. We used electric hook up and filled our water tank before leaving in the morning. Sites were pretty level. The beach areas were really crowded. We didn't go. Some beach type trails seemed nice but it was 85 degrees and we opted out of hiking. There is a little camp store that was open and we went and got ice cream.

No Privacy Between Sites
This is a great campground with excellent bathroom and shower facilities. Campsites are spaced far enough apart so that you don't feel cramped, but the other sites are very visible. There are enough trees to provide shade most of the day. The beach is also excellent. We would definitely recommend this campground.

Let’s Go On A Hike
This place was amazing. We loved the trails. The beach was so pretty and warm (even in early October). We spent five days and still wanted to stay longer. Book your site early because the camp is booked out. No laundry. There is a lot of shopping location near by. They do charge you an extra 12$ on your way into the campsite (just the first day). We will go back!!

Nice
Nice campground. Spacious, level spots with concrete pads. Walking path to beach (.5 mi). Bathroom/shower facilities are great - loved the hot shower!
$23/night, electric only, with $5 reservation fee if booked online. Yes, you have to pay to enter park, but fee covers entire stay.

Comfortable
Nice state park with large trees. Large building with washrooms and showers, softened on demand hot water open and lighted all night. Water supply at campground entrance smells of sulfur... bring water. Pay entrance fee and camping fee then come and go with tag during your stay. Close to South Shore Rail station: go early for express trains to Chicago Randolph Street Station. Restaurants and grocery south on Route 49 in Chesterton.

Decent Place
The sites are level and spaced well. No water hookups. The handicap showers need to be fixed and cleaned better. The property is well patrolled considering your 45 miles from the murder capital of the US. The heavy set DNR Officer that looks like the family guy is not a nice person. The extra fees for vehicle entry and reservations is a bit much.

Great State Park
We loved this park. It has spacious sites that are concrete and easy to level on. Partial hookups are available. Dump station and water is available but pay attention to the site map when booking online. Our GPS was taking us to the right destination but we saw signs and went to a totally different campground that was Indiana Dunes National not State so be aware! They also charged us entrance fees for the RV and Towed even though we had a booked site. There are 2 checkpoints as well, one where you pay the fee and the other where you actually check in. The shower facilities are great.

Great weekend
It was a cold April weekend, but we enjoyed our stay. We stayed in site 18 which was perfectly level. Short walk to the beach. I kept from leaving 5 stars ONLY due to not having full hookups.

Great Place
We camped very early on in the season...the showers were warm, the staff was very very friendly...lots of beautiful trails...kids geocached, lots in the area. We plan to come back in late summer!

Really Enjoyed
Nice maintained park. Friendly staff. Big spots with concrete pads. We will definitely keep this on the short list when visiting this neck of the woods.

Fantastic
we loved this campground. Very clean, nice large sites with mature trees, even a small camp store. excellent location and tons of trails. we hiked a short well maintained shaded trail from the campground to the beach. Only downfall wete the comfort stations. We stayed 4 days and never had a hit shower, they were barely luke warm and could have used a good cleaning but we do understand it's a very busy location and campground wad at capacity all summer. overall we would definitely stay again! Beautiful sunsets over the lake and tons if amenities at the beach! Nature center was great for the kids too!

Love it
This is a great campground, but the Comfort Stations are frigid.
Hence my two stars.
