Great Views!
Tent camper. Stayed in spot 144 on the Wisconsin Ridge. Not private at all but the view is amazing. The bluff is covered in poison ivy so be careful. Bathroom and shower facilities were excellent. Hiking trails are great. Easy drive into Prairie du Chien for food. Downside is lack of privacy and regular train noise. Would definitely return.

Beautiful but...
The park is awesome, the campsites in Wisconsin Ridge beautiful. But the staff was not helpful upon checking in. Did not tell us where portable water was or even how to get to our campsite. Then we had dogs barking for over 40 minutes. No one keeping things under control. Very saddened how this park is run in comparison to other state parks we have camped at.

Beautiful But Rashy
We stayed in the homestead area site 252 and it was infested with poison oak and poison ivy. If you show up at night, beware. It was in the middle of the path between 251 and 252. The sites are beautiful there. Like being in a woods cave. There are close trails and even a waterfall. If I didn’t have my little kids with me I would have explored more but the 5 poisonous plants (ivy, oak, sumac, Wild parsnip, nettles) were everywhere and some of the paths get narrow. The showers get nasty later in the day from people not cleaning up after themselves. The pit toilets had TONS of spiders. We really didn’t see many mosquitoes which is strange for how muggy it was. The gnats were everywhere so bring some vanilla extract to put behind your ears.

Weekend Getaway
Great place for a two night getaway with my wife. Scenic views are absolutely breathtaking. Some of the biking and hiking trails were tough even though we are somewhat experienced. Sand caves were very neat to see in person. Stayed in the Homestead camping area. Very woodsy and great sites. The new bathhouse is very nice. Pam at the front desk was very kind and had great knowledge of the park. I wouldn’t take my little kids here though. Not for the hiking and biking because it would be too tough on the smaller kids. Concession stand was great! They have not only ice cream, lunch, breakfast meals but also butter, milk, eggs etc. very reasonable prices! Definitely will come back again even though I’m 250 miles away. Thank you to the kind and friendly staff!!
