A Quiet Place For An Overnight Stop

I stopped over night to rest and relax before continuing on my weekend journey back in June of 2021. This is a very nice wooded campground with all of the amenities a single traveler and or family would want. I stayed in section B, and although the most of all the sites were taken, it was still quiet and peaceful. The park staff were very friendly and helpful. The bath house was clean and the hot water for the showers was plentiful. If traveling from the Hampton Roads area, especially on a Friday during summer months, I recommend traveling I95 north (vice the rte17, especially if you're in a large motor home or towing a trailer). I was driving a personal vehicle, and it took much longer using rte 17 due to higher traffic volume and the numerous traffic lights! Better off taking I95 to rte 3 and following the signs.

Campground Needs Upgraded

Nice campground. First time there and stayed three nights. Host and hostess were super nice folks and do a great job. Virginia got it down for providing a safe environment for campers. See park patrol several times. Really got to do and see more than we bargained for. Hiking trails are nice and well marked. Visitors center is first rate. Stayed in loop B. Showing its age. Needs some TLC. Bathroom and showers were clean and well maintained but needs upgraded. Hats off to the people that work there. They are super friendly and are making the most of it.

We stayed here in November a quiet park but large amount of leaves on our site and very wet time as it rained quite a lot. Bath house and laundry were clean and the water pressure was great. Little to no internet service. The park employees were helpful and plesant.

Quiet. Clean. Everyone is really nice. Wish we could stay longer.

Stayed The Last Week Of September

Stayed in Loop A, beautiful, clean, quiet park. Definitely will go back and stay again. Trails were well taken care of with 2 degrees of difficulty, easy and medium. Didn't get the chance to do any kayaking due to small craft advisory. Will definitely go back. Loved it!

Beautiful Campground

Nice campground, nice beach, great hiking and friendly staff. Bathrooms were cleaned daily but showers were not very clean. Also if your campsite has water, pick a site with a pump on the arm. Otherwise you have to turn the water handle beyond what you think in order for the water to work.
