Diamond Waiting To Be Found
Great location! Small and quiet. Brewery in walking distance. Free shuttle to downtown area full of restaurants! Asked to rent a fire ring...went for a bike ride and found the ring and firewood all set up. Footsteps to the beach...boardwalk for biking or walking. Camping store stocked with all kinds of necessities! Definitely coming back in the summer!

Secret gem
We love the spot so I hate to toot Fort Monroe's horn too loudly. It's a hidden city-within-a-city. The Colonies is a small Campground with large sites...you can see the sunrise on one side and the sunset on the other. The beach is right up over the hill. On Fort Monroe itself there's a brewery a great restaurant and beautiful beaches. You even have access to the Fort itself with a really cool Museum that's free. And the best part is you can bike over Ft Monroe

I called for rates on off season the owner said $750 a month. It was the middle of the month.. 13th. So we parked. Then on the first the owner asked for rent $750. I said I thought it was monthly? She said $750 for that month, $750 for this month. I really felt I was mislead.

Very Upset
The owner allows The RV park rules state no loud music is aloud however the owner rents shelters at the park and evidently they have no rules at all. For 7 hours Sunday we had loud bass music from a professional sound system pointed at the park ruining what would have otherwise been a beautiful day. We spoke with the front desk and they refused to make them turn it off. We called the police and they said this county does not have noise ordinances. I encourage you not to visit this park unless you bring ear plugs and those wouldn't have helped in this case. My family will never return to this county or this park, we will spend our money at a park that values its clients.

Formerly an Army base, the campgroulnd sits on the location of Ft. Monroe. Average amenities and narrow approach through town make this 3 stars - but a welcome three stars for the location.
