Nice View But Would Not Return

The park location is great, right along the Comal river and across from Wursthall. We stayed in spot 514. Big mistake. It’s an extremely narrow cliffside pull thru with trees that made it almost impossible to park our 35 ft tt. The camper door opened to a water view but there was NO space around any side of the camper. We had to be careful when entering/exiting camper for fear of slipping into the river. We could fit chairs only behind or in front (near hitch). And hose/electric connections were very far from actual tt connections. I think this spot would work nicely for a smaller camper and I wish mgmt would’ve warned us. Also,be warned: major traffic noise, trains,and weekday construction on Wursthall. Overall, it’s a clean park, WiFi didn’t work for us, view of river is nice, but we would not return. Too tight for our tt.

Nice Location

Seems to be a lot of long-term people here. The roadways are broken asphalt and gravel. The sites are gravel. The river sight where I parked was uneven and muddy when it rained, which was a mess. The utilities worked fine, except the sewer was 30 feet or so from the electric and cable TV. There are relatively steep grades to get up and down to the river sites. The location is great for New Braunfels and Gruene. The price was $30 for the offseason rate, no matter which site you are in. My only complaint is that when I called the office to see about getting some gravel around my stairs, they said they didn't have any material for that. The next morning when I was walking my dog, I came across a pile of gravel near the dumpster. Just kind of irritated me that they weren't as accommodating as they could have been in that situation. The mud was a great big mess. Other than that, you get what you pay for.

Quaint and Friendly

Our First visit was on the water. After losing our 40' diesel pusher to a record breaking Flash flood that came late at night with no warning (it was only an inch of rain at campground, and the high water alert did not activate until 2 hours after the incident), we come back, but we stay at the top level now. Freaky weather aside, the campground is close to downtown and a short drive to everything you would want to do as a tourist. Fishing and tubing seems to be favorite activities onsite. Mgmt is wonderful. Bath house and laundry are clean. We Will keep coming back as long as it is here. ***Watch for the low bridge clearance route. The website Will also tell you which route to avoid going to the Park. Also, the railroad tracks just before the campground are rugged. Go slow as you cross them.
