Beautiful
They had beautiful, quiet, and peaceful sites. They had pull-thrus, and back ends. Nice covered picnic tables, with firepit at each site. Pull-thrus are far apart, which we loved. About 3 miles from Fort Davis Hostorical site which we toured. Very well laid out, and interactive museum for all ages.

Good, Needs Work
We really like the area. Most of the sites are very nice but some are pretty close to each other. Says they have WiFi but we could rarely get it to connect. The bathhouse smells vile. Lots of wildlife though, and good hiking.

Very Pleased
We stayed here to visit the McDonald observatory. Found the reasons to be quite adequate, lots of trails, saw bighorn sheep, ate breakfast at the lodge. Sites were nice & we switched with no problem after we're assigned one at the park headquarters. I would definitely recommend this campground. Some people are just too picky if they don't le this one!

Off the Grid!
We stayed here for 4 nights and couldn’t have asked for a better stay! A lot of wildlife come within feet of your campsite; we saw mule deer and skunks and a bull snake during our stay. We didn’t have cell service at our campsite but did when we went up the scenic road. The park isn’t but a few miles outside of Fort Davis and you can get cell service there if needed. Also, there’s fuel/gas, a grocery store and a few restaurants in Fort Davis. Balmorhea is approx 45 minutes away and Marfa is only about 30 away and you can’t not go to the McDonald Observatory that’s only 13 miles away. Lots of fun places to explore here!

Observatory Visitor
We stayed here one night when we did the Star Party at Macdonald observatory ( which was fantastic). I did not get a chance to visit much of the park hiking trails so I can not comment. The staff at the entrance were very helpful. I would stay again if we visited the area. I would not drive s long way with this as a destination however.

Very Disappointed
Rated online as best Texas State campground. We’ve been on road 3 years one of the worst we’ve stayed at. 1 crappy restroom for entire park. Power on opposite side, rocky nasty personal area, dried gulch river. Parched ugly landscape, who thought this as scenic?? Sorry Texas you need to do better.

Great place, very well kept, lots of space. We were at a site with power and water only but they do have a dump station. Great hiking and very scenic. Only issue is the tables for the sites are on the wrong side of the RV. Don't forget daily fees in addition to the overnight camp fee. I think it was an additional $6 per person per day
