It’s Okay
I liked the stream running through the campground and the pond with the trout. The dump station overflowed when emptying our tank. The bathrooms I used had slugs and worms crawling up the shower walls. We heard Screech Owls at night during the week. Weekends are full of loud people. Hopefully it will improve.

Forest Cathedral
Rock Creek is located just outside the quaint town of Erwin in a beautiful and supremely quiet National Forest. The park features three loops, each with a small, basic bathhouse, (one or two stalls and a single shower each). Sites are well spaced on the mountain slopes in a dense hardwood forest full of rhododendron, which must be stunning in June each year. A tall leaf canopy provides cool shade. Most are fairly level with a well packed pea gravel surface, fire ring with grill and pot holder plus lantern pole and picnic table. Electric sites are available but water is at spigots spaced along the roads. Roads are paved, but beware the poorly marked speed bumps. Numerous trails and a bold mountain stream border the park, and there are picnic and playground areas near the entrance. A unique feature is a large cement pond fed by the stream which is wonderful for wading and swimming. A camp host is on site and had to replace our 30 amp breaker on arrival. Dump station is provided.

Not My Fav
Sites were level and spacious. The swimming area was a cemented hole in the ground being fed by a creek. The bathrooms were not clean at all and we never saw anyone cleaning anything while we were there for 3 days. When we arrived our fire pit was full and there were cigarette butts everywhere. Would definitely not stay here again.

Amazing Old Forest Campground
This is one of the most amazing campgrounds I’ve stayed at. Beautiful old growth forest, lots of hiking trails from the campground, including a fairly challenging 2 mile hike up to a waterfall. Sites were spacious and fairly private, not very busy when we were there midweek in May.

Quiet Park
Nice campground with level sites. Clean bathrooms with showers. 90% of the spots are shaded.
