This was one of the nicest parks we’ve stayed at.
Our 27 foot motor home fit perfectly on a level site #46 right on the river. Stayed in January, so it was quiet cold with the water freezing in our water hose (no problem with the rig).
Great hiking trails that are super clean.

This campground is nice and clean. Water and power only. This campground was built in the 60’s therefore it is tight for large rigs. There are two sections of this campground. One flat area and one area, two loops, on the hill. The hill is curvy, steep, and tight and the flat area is spacious. I have a 37’ tag along. Site 80, on the hill was deep and narrow. Amenities are nice as well. Clean, small bathhouses. Visited Carvers Gap elevation 5,500’ for sunrise, amazing view. We definitely will return.

Tennessee State Park
Beautiful state park and campground! Well maintained level sites that were far enough apart. This campground was nearly full to capacity midweek in October. That tells you how popular it is. Rangers were very friendly and helpful. There were many good trails close by. We were in the lower campground. The upper campground seemed to be a little more hilly.

Nice campground. Somewhat hilly in the one section. Open year round at the bottom only. Full hook ups less sewer.

Roan Mountain State Park
We stayed at site 43 in our popup. The site was excellent and as described on the website. This particular side of the campground is unlevel with steep roads but it also seemed to be much quieter as compared to the main section near the gate. The river ran just behind the site and gave a peaceful atmosphere while trying to sleep at night.
We camped with two kids, ages 18mos and 4yo so having a bathroom close and convenient is a must! Our site was adjacent to the bathhouse which was in excellent shape. There was only one shower and one tiolet per gender however we never encountered a line in the four days were stayed.
While there isn't a pool in the campground itself, there is a trail connecting the campground to the community pool. Individuals staying at the campground receive discounted admission rates to pool by showing their receipts.
Overall, we were very pleased with the experience we had at this state park. We will defiantely be returning in the future!

We loved our visit from March 11 to the 15th. The campground had the best wifi I have ever experienced at any RV park. They had repeater towers throughout camp so there are no dead spots. While we were there we experienced a snow storm. They had the roads plowed very quickly. Everything was clean, including the showers. We will be back. Staff was great also.

Something For Everyone
Nice sized sites, well placed with some privacy. Swimming pool in summer, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball court and lots of hiking trails. Short drive to Roan Mountain for spectacular views.
