Reservations Only

This used to be one of our favorite places to go. We used to be able to drive in and easily find a pretty nice spot and pay our fee. But last year we went there and were confronted with a sign saying all sites required reservation. There was a phone number listed but it had nothing to do with making reservations and there was no cell service so I couldn't make an online reservation ( FS staff suggested driving to Florence for cell service??!!!). In talking to FS people they said thieves were breaking into fee boxes and for that reason, along with COVID, they went reservation only. Seems like they could devise foolproof fee box because now its terrible if you simply want to drive in and camp. By the way, resevations are now required for most campgrounds in the Siuslaw National Forest.
