December Stay
We had a lovely time here. Spent two nights. The place is small quiet and tidy. There’s a nice pool and a pier. Bathrooms are clean. Margaret was awesome. She called us back when had tried to contact the campsite last minute. I would definitely recommend this place!!

Peaceful Getaway
As I sit writing this review I’m greeted by a cooling breeze, beautiful lake, and peaceful surroundings. The camp is far enough from OBX to enjoy its peace but close enough to engage daily activities. My cons would be the confusing check in, the office isn’t always manned and you need to read the notes on the door if you check in after hours. Also there is no playground equipment for kids. Lastly there are no fire pits. But the manager is very friendly and loves dogs. Once setup you find very level sites with a great view of the lake. It’s a perfect spot to relax from a long day, or weekend, traversing OBX.

Beautiful Place
Yes it’s not on the beach which to me is a plus because we were away from the sand that would make a mess. We spent our days at the beach (which are only ten minutes away) or doing other sightseeing. Had a nice pool to come back to in the evening. Very clean bathhouse and the WiFi worked every time I used it to stream something.

Okay, BUT ....
After a rain even my 3 week old water filter couldn’t handle the silt. The water came out a murky brown. Cable TV requires a Master’s degree to make the REQUIRED box work. We tried two different boxes and was only able to get one to work. WI-FI is a joke at best and is seemingly throttled back. So spotty would be an accurate description. Rules are not applied evenly across perm and temp residents. My niece and nephews got a bit unruly and some perm residents apparently complained. However children as young as 8 were allowed to drive golf carts around in violation of park rules. This represents a rule structure based on residency. This campground is not 2nd Amendment friendly, but since there were no signs posted this was unenforceable. There also appeared to be some covert bias against those of mixed race or those of darker colors. No rules were documented at checkin as is the norm. Overall this COULD be an exceptional campground under more enlightened management! We wouldn’t recommend

Out Of The Fray
Really pleasant park: clean, nice manager and spacious, flat, gravel spots but there are no trees for shade or privacy.....I agree with others, it’s a great place to base and visit all the Outer Banks has to offer. It’s away from the tourist craziness in Nags Head or Cape Hatteras. Showers and bathrooms are very nice!

Good camping alternative to the outer ba
We stayed here to explore the outer banks. Very nice basic campground. Clean and quiet. Convenient to the outer banks but not on the outer banks. Would stay again using as a base.

Could have been great!
It is a nice and friendly place to stay and very close to the Nags Head beach. The swimming pool is very small but not that many people using it especially in the evening. There is a nice board walk into the marsh area that surround the east side of the park. However, the WIFI was a joke, on for a short moment (minutes) and then mostly off for the four days we were there. Forget it if you have to stay connected!

Nice, beautiful area. Overnighters get water view over a small inlet. Very nice boardwalk. Can hear highway noise a bit. Great base location for exploring outer banks region.
