Camping Near Raleigh

Nice campground, but no sewer hookups. 30 amp electric. Also some sites are pretty steep downhill. Staff will work with you on an alternate if available. Some sites get muddy when it rains. Lots of fallen wood around for campfires. Quiet woodsy place.

Great Quiet Private

Site 82 loop 3. One of the nicest private camp sites we have had. Almost like boondocking! Very clean quiet sites. Not you typical state camp ground. We will be back as you are close to things in Raleigh and Wake Forest. When you return to your site you are in a forest isolated from city issues, noise, people, traffic, ECT.

What More Could You Want?

Spot #71. On the Lake, trees all around...only one side with a neighbor and close to the campers only sandy bottom beach and showers! Loved everything about this place. Went mountain biking at Beaverdam which blew our socks off!!!! Great afternoon and hope to visit again.

Big Sites and Easy Access To Lake

Nice sites, wide with camp fire rings, shaded but big enough for two vehicles. Quiet where we were but loud at the sites by the water. Easy access to the water makes this great for swimming (separate swimming areas) or boating, including kayaking. We will be coming back.

Pretty But Kinda Loud

We were in loop 3 and the sites were big and well spaced in a beautiful forest, but the noise from nearby highways was quite loud at times (we were there over a weekend) and it IS right on the flight path for Raleigh-Durham airport so you get some jet noise too every now and then. The bathrooms were older and the showers were in desperate need of updating (old, dirty, moldy - we chose to just wait until our next stop to shower). Our stay wasn’t awful but we would look elsewhere if we find ourselves in the area again.

This is a very nice campground. Even when we don't manage to get our preferred site we are still pleased with what we get. Level, large, shady, quiet well laid out and maintained sites.

Nothing Negative

Great staff. Great sites (huge)! Very quiet and total relaxation.
