Great Quiet Park
Large pull thru sites. So quiet and dark skies. Very restful. Lots of Gambles quail. Goats, porcupines, birds in zoo-like setting. Great staff. Would definitely stay again. Nice drive to the Coranado Natl Forest which was very nice. Coues deer everywhere.

Don't Make Reservations With These Folks
I just had $163 taken from me by Rusty's Ranch in the following way. I made a reservation to stay there back in October 2021. I would have stayed there for the month of March 2022, but in December I realized we weren't going there anymore and I cancelled.
I sent my cancelation to the same email address that I received my confirmation of reservation on. This seems reasonable, but Rusty kept $163 of my money saying that she receives cancelations on another email address. I would suggest that if you must deal with this woman (Rusty), that you be very careful.

So Glad We Stayed There
This place is the best. Beautiful views, starry nights, very large spaces. Big clubhouse, cleanest bathrooms we've ever seen. Rusty was very friendly and gave us maps and directions to places we wanted to see. Good place to base camp for exploring the area. We will be back!

Gem of All RV Parks
This is one of the best kept secrets of RV Parks. In the middle nowhere between two magnificent mountain ranges, is Rusty’s RV Ranch. Only six miles north of Rodeo, NM, this park has everything one could possibly want. Two hundred feet long by 50 feet wide RV spots, 30/50 amp service, water and sewer hookups and dark night skies for the stargazer. They have several aviaries with exotic birds, a black swan from Australia named Tucson; and a fenced dog area. The clubhouse and laundry facilities are exceptionally clean. Many books and games to choose from. Bicycles and a senior tricycle to ride around this flat ground. Tim, Rusty’s husband personally escorts you to your site. Tom is the caretaker of the birds and animals and can tell you the history of this ranch. Friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Please don’t come here as we are keeping this place to ourself. We will return man many times.

Didn’t Stay There...but
She is supposed to maintain the road next to the campground that goes to Zhenna’s hipcamp but doesn’t feel the need. Guess Zhenna’s five camping spots are too much competition! Skip rusty and check out Zhenna’s place! The views are incredible, and Zhenna’s is terrific!!

Not What We Expected
We had hoped to spend the winter in the Rodeo area. Accordingly we made a reservation at Rusty's for the month of December. After a blizzard and a major breakdown enroute we finally made it, a day early. We found that our cell phones would not work so we asked Rusty if this was a known problem and if she was aware of any solutions. I must have said something seriously wrong as she lit into me harder than I've ever been in my life. The issue was refunds, which I had not even mentioned at that point. To make a long story short, we agreed to a partial refund on the month we hadn't started, packed up and left. We were there less than 20 hours. Too bad as it is a really interesting area. For us it was an expensive lesson learned.

A Gem
I am very happy that I have found Rusty's RV Ranch. I could not wish for more. Management is great, people are friendly; buildings are super clean and inviting, spaces are big and leveled and the views are breathtaking.

Absolutely Fabulous
The owners are wonderful. If you are in the area you won't want to miss this spot for the quiet night skies, these dark skies are great for serious astronomers and stargazers just out to enjoy the view. Absolutely stunning views of the Chiricahua and Peloncillo Mountains. The spaces are 200ft long, the clubhouse is open to guests 24hrs a day complete with kitchenette, shower/bathroom. There are movies, books and games. A lovely aviary with seating and a water feature. There is ample seating on the clubhouse porch. A large dog run is on site as well. You find a lovely walking path around the entire park with a pass right by the duck pond. Rusty & Tim are gracious hosts that are more than happy to help you identify the wildlife or point out the local treasures. If you plan on staying for a while just know that the closest grocery store is in Douglas, Arizona about an hour away. There is a small store in Rodeo for some basics.

As advertised in the other review. We were going to stay a day and ended up staying five weeks! Night skies are awesome and camp rules are no outside lights! There are a lot of astronomers that seek out this park for the dark skies. Not having all that light pollution is so refreshing! Great spring time birding too. Douglas is an hour south and has a Walmart, Mi Ranchita Mexican meat market and Food City Supermarket for very inexpensive produce. Check out the library in Portal for movies and a great selection of books in such a small building. Rusty and Tim are great hosts and with Bob, they all maintain this great park and help you any way they can. It truly deserves more than five stars.

Dee-lightful! Stayed @ End Of Oct '15
We picked this park to stay at with the idea of not having a lot of distractions, as we needed a several day "family meeting" to make some decisions about our future. Thinking this was pretty much the middle of nowhere.
We were wrong!
Just for starters, this place is immaculate, beautifully maintained, with aviaries filled with exotic birds, serenity pools, a pond, hot-tub, lovely clubhouse and small supply store. The views of the Chiricahua mountains to the west and Animas mountains to the east are intriguing, prompting us to go visit the old-west towns of Portal and Paradise, taking us through magnificent canyons and forests of oak, pine and juniper.
This is a "dark skies" location with very little background light. The stars seem close enough to reach up and grab a handful for closer inspection. Constellations stand out as if they were labeled!
The very best feature of this park is Rusty herself! Look in the dictionary under 'Ultimate Host ' and you will find Rusty's photograph.
