Yuck
Didn’t know we needed a reservation to stay. Lots of open spots but camp host would not let us in them without reservation. Put us in a group spot that was totally slanted and had so many weeds, thorns, and bugs that we ended up leaving.

Off The Beaten Path
This state park is remote, quiet, nice place to have solitude. Town is 15 miles away but has limited offerings. No hardware or auto parts. Only restaurant open was Dairy Land, great for ice cream and hamburgers. Old ft Sumner is worth visiting. I rode bicycle all over the park and there was no traffic. The camp ground was never full but had 4 to 5 rv`s all the time.

Stay Elsewhere
Tried to make a reservation and was put on Robo hold for 15 minutes, after which they hung up on me. Repeatedly. So I go online and it looks like all of the camping spots are open through the weekend – great, so I drive in to do a walk up spot, and every campsite has an occupied sign on it. Of course, the self-pay kiosk is at the entrance to the campground so you have no idea it’s full before you put your money in the slot. And the campground host is nowhere in sight to give me my money back. Surely there’s a better way.

Full Loop- No Problem
We visited two days mid March with no room at the inn. The camp host was great and let us park in the empty group area with electric. We loved the view of the lake and seclusion from full camping loop. We were close to the showers and visitor center. The showers were nice. We enjoyed the hiking trail to lake overlook. Our antenna couldn’t pick up any local channels. Two bars of AT&T let me do all I needed.

Beautiful park, large level sites, nice adobe picnic shelters. The view from our site was spectacular.
