Not a great experience
First concern was that we were told the gate code bc there had been people "messing up things in the park, but that stopped when we locked the gate." However, the gate wasn't locked when we arrived after it should have been locked. Went back to check around 8 p.m. and it still wasn't locked. The bathroom doors have entry codes, but they weren't really locked. Saw locals, not camping, using the showers. Never saw the camp host or any employee.

Gorgeous Place, Need Better Shower Heads
Had water and electric, dump site. We had a 27 foot trailer - a bit hard to back into. Only $18 a night. Great place.

Love It!
April 14 through17, 2021 April 14 - 17, 2021 Good camping! One of the nicest we've been to. The ca tus are beginning to bloom. Very clean and quiet. Hosts are warm and helpful. All sites are gravel (the whole park is gravel). We were on #36. Nice and level. Some sites have electricity and water, ours did not.  Would love to come back and stay longer!

Nice
1st time at this state park as we try to make our rounds to all of them. Glad they are back open either way. Very beautiful here with nice views. Spots are decently level. Bathhouse is clean but showers are still closed for now. Hope to return soon.

Great Park!
One of our favorite parks in New Mexico! Spent 3 nights as always when traveling through this area. Hiking the Dogwood Canyon trail is beautiful and well worth the trip. Park is near Alamogordo so we can provision and eat out.

Place is packed through out March. March 2nd I called ranger and there was an opening at 8:30 am and arrived at 12pm it was gone. I saw 3 sites with nothing but a car so you need to know someone local to sit on a site if your not local. Nice scenery but sites are small(35' or less) also uneven. All the sites I saw campers were propped up on a corner or 2.

Awesome
Awesome...awesome...this park is top notch. Bath and restroom facilities are super clean. Would definitely recommend. Most rv spits are nice and level. Easy to get to from the highway.

We had a beautiful view of the mountains and a nice big site. Paid $14 to have electric and water. The bathhouse was nice and clean- plenty of hot water for a shower.

Arrived 4/28/19 w/o reservations. Most sites are walk-up. Snagged #10 and stuffed our 38' DP in a quasi parallel park with our nose facing directly into the canyon NE uphill into the mountains. Sights are on a hillside so levelling can be a challenge, but with our spot and positioning we're good L/R, but needed to elevate the back a bit. VZ 4G 3-4 bars. Very clean bathrooms/shower.

GREAT NM STATE PARK
Like all NM parks, you cant beat the rate. $14 for E&W non-reserved, $4 reservation fees. Well designed, landscaped and maintained park. Great views, recommend the Dog Canyon trail to moderate/experienced hikers, its not a stroll for little kids. Staff are polite and helpful. Great location for White Sands, probably 25 minutes. Not 35 like your GPS will say.

Rich NM History
Great location, interesting history of the ranch & surrounding area. Very close to “White Sands” and close enough to city* for supplies. Great Tex-Mex dining*. Restrooms very modern & clean. Nice level RV spots. If we ever come again we will come here 1st, then head North. Got pretty warm for May. (Very dry desert climate.)
