Lake Saint Mary Post Season
No doubt this area is a beautiful. That being said, we arrived on Sept 27, 2024, just before 5PM local. In this post season first come, first serve campsite area (No reservations taken post season) of the park everything was already winterized and the park service had closed down loops A & B post labor day weekend while allowing only primitive camping, vault toilet only, on loop C. Only one site was still open on loop C upon our arrival, which we took. A dozen or more campers came in afterward looking for nonexistent open sites. Some stopped to chat, having no idea of where they would stay for the night after a long day drive. So, one as to ask, why didn't the park service open loops A & B to primitive camping as well? $20 campsite fee, half price for holders of a senior National Park pass.

Mr
Arrived late in the evening (7pm) not really expecting to to find a spot! To our delight, there was plenty??? Not sure if this is always the case, going by the only other review. As you all know, navigating the Gov on line booking sight is a night mare. We mostly use USFS camp grounds for over night stop offโs. Every thing we expected, and a little more. Showers, and friendly host.๐๐๐

St. Mary CG
All the amenities and nice views but only a hint of those up the road. Reserve a site before you arrive. They fill up early. Groceries, camping supplies, restaurant, & gas just outside the park entrance but $$$$. Take the Red Bus tour.
