Apparently closed for the summer season. COVID related

We have a 35' fifth wheel and stayed in two of the pull through sites. Both were not level but workable, but we built a lego-levelling block step to make it easier to use the camper ladder. The dump station was a bit difficult to maneuver (tight). The hookups were on the opposite side - meaning that we ran water and electrical under the camper, and it had to be that way because the road was too tight to come in from the other direction. Overall, though, great location and close to everything we wanted to do. Kids really enjoyed the Alpine Coaster and the view of Superior.

Convenient To Duluth
Decent campground conveniently located to Duluth. Nicely wooded area that was well kept. Bath houses were a bit dated but somewhat clean. Park staff courteous and friendly. 2 bars of AT and T cell coverage. Good kids campground with Spirit Mountain Adventure park within walking distance. Adventure park features mountain bike trails, chair lift and alpine coaster. We stayed here because we reserved late in the season and the state parks were full. We would stay here again. With a little more effort on their bath houses, I’d be inclined to grant that 4th star.

Stayed here in late Sept 2018 for a wedding at the chalet. Only about 1/3 of the sites are occupied. Water and electric (30 amp) in our site (24.) Bathrooms are clean but older. Downtown Duluth is about 15 minutes away and has lots of stores and restaurants. The freighters coming in under the vertical lift bridge as well as maritime museum were very cool. Sites have space between them with lots of trees. Friendly staff at office. Superior hiking trail goes thru the campground. I don’t know if the adventure park was open as we weren’t here for that and never heard noise about it. It was pretty quiet most of the time. You can hear a little bit of the highway noise in the distance (we have a hybrid travel trailer with tent bunk ends) and some train horns at night.

Great location if you are here for the offered recreation but otherwise not worth the price.
