Best Campground

We have been to most state parks in the UP, but this has been our favorite. When sitting around the fire we couldn't see another site. Then the sunsets were breathtaking.

Gorgeous Sunset

Wow, the most amazing sunset can be viewed from McLain! The lots are also large and the lake breeze is lovely. Highly recommend. A bit tough to climb down due to erosion as pointed out by others BUT this should not be a deterrent since the lake view and sunset can be seen from atop.

Circle Tour Stopover

Beautiful State Park. Views of the big lake are great. Getting to shoreline is difficult due to high lake levels and rocks for erosion control. New section for bigger rigs with 50 amp service to open soon.

Good Campground

This is a great place to camp. 7 miles from town in both directions. The sites are wired weird electricity but the office has extensions for 30/50amp rigs. The sites are well maintained and level. Bathrooms are clean and up to date. No washers but there is an awesome, brand new laundry mat across from the Walmart and dollar tree in town. The sunsets are beyond beautiful and they provide you with chairs to watch. Nice staff. I don’t give out 4 stars often folks!

Nice Visit

I enjoyed my stay. It’s a bit odd that the dump station is at the entrance so you have to leave then go back in but no big deal. Lots of chairs to watch the beautiful sunsets

Great Staff

The camp ground and facilities were clean. When the noise level (music) from other campers was too loud the staff quickly resolved the problem. Great camp ground, I will return.
