Not For Us
Stayed here for 7 nights. (6/5/2024-6/12/2024) Picked it based on reviews and website. First, their website is a fabrication, they use stock photos. NONE OF WHAT YOU SEE ACTUALLY EXISTS AS DEPICTED! We had a FHU site. The sites were gravel somewhat and grass. They were horribly un-level. I was 5” nose down and listing 4” on the driver side. It took every block I had to get REASONABLY level. Still I spent the week 1” nose down and listing 1.5” on the driver side. WiFi stinks, no cable TV, cellular service was 1 bar, barely enough to make a call. Top all of that off, it rained straight for 3 days straight (not their fault but) that confined us to our un-level camper with no WiFi or cable. What a miserable stay. Should we visit Acadia again, we won’t be staying here.

New Owners
We’ve been coming here for years. It’s still a clean well kept but the price has doubled. Hopefully this will make so that in July and August you will be able to get a site. They do now take reservations and credit cards now. The campground is the closest to Acadia national Park, but you still need to drive to get there. They do have ocean views, but you can’t walk to the water like you can at other campgrounds

I was worried with no reservation but it worked out fine. We were after Labor Day though. You need to b in before dark to set up! We found several options however some had a big slope to them. We got along fine with a 32’. Tons of spots if u don’t want electric or water. Super close to park entrance. I would come back but if this your only option with no res and they r full you gotta hope I can go somewhere else. A bit tricky. But you get to stay as long as u want and keep adding on if u go up in the morning hours. $42.

Great Location No Reservations
The only downside is that you can't reserve sites in advance. Makes it difficult to plan in advance, but for those that want to just show up and find a spot, its perfect. Beautiful ocean views, and really close to town and Acadia National Park.

We stayed 5 days. Perfect location for Acadia and Bar Harbor. We are from Florida so not sure we can visit again but we would.

Consider Carefully
One of the few parks where value abounds. No rez means you get quality anytime. Just get here even in busy times and something will change in your favor, like the Maine weather! Serious family value with a great pool, playground, washrooms, and fire pits. 2nd full season here!

Close To Bar Harbor & Acadia
This campground is on the free shuttle route to Acadia and Bar Harbor, which is amazing. It's a large campground and has great views and lots of amenities.

Nice surprise. Was expecting crowded parking lot. Not. Wooded spacious sites. We had W/Elec. only, with showers just around the corner. Would stay again if we come back. Staying four days :)

Beautiful campground to stay. We like the site on the wood.
The only negative thing : the dump station is beside the ocean site juste beside others campers

Truly a beautiful campground that offers many different types of camping- woods, moderate shade or up on the hilltop. Very clean grounds as well as shower and restrooms. Would definitely recommend this campground to others!

No Reservation Policy Is Worrisome
RV sites were in tight supply for Columbus Day weekend every but this place said just come on by, no problem. We got there in the afternoon and indeed we got a spot but there were just a few left that we could fit in and they were lined up behind us to get in. For renters and small units, there were lots of nice spaces available. The RV spots are fine, nothing special.

The wife has been wanting to see the Maine colors, heard of Bar Harbor while in Boston. Called them the following morning and all she could tell us was there are some 50F/Hs available. We rolled the dice, we arrived about 4pm and they said they had a few open with a couple of RVers looking. We took the first one we found. We stayed 3 nights, we spent two days sightseeing. Had a great time with fantastic food.
If there was a down side, no local reception at our site. The units 4 sites up on either side received a few stations. No big deal for us, had a whiskey fire and cool evenings.
If we ever get back to the area we will definitely try to stay.
We were there towards the end of the season, and about 70% RV sites were taken.

We stayed here because Acadia campgrounds were full. Gave them a call and they said they had sites available. Very friendly and helpful staff. This is a large campground with many site options. Some full hookup, some elec. and water and some rustic. Sites also vary on location. Some are in the woods and nice and shaded and some are more open, but not just parking in a field. They do have vegetation. Also sites are nice sized. Some of the sites at the top of the hill overlook the water. Bathrooms and showers are SPOTLESS! Free busses pick you up at the campground entrance to pretty much take you wherever you want to go.

Great Place To Stay
This is a large, well-maintained campground—I drove around until I found a site, parked and hooked up, then walked back to the office and paid cash. Great owners, very helpful and friendly. The bus stops here frequently so you can travel without wondering where to park an RV. I’ll definitely stay here again. No early site rentals—they open at 8 am. I showed up at 10 and had a few site options. Check out is noon.

Stayed A Week
Stayed a week, no regrets. Very clean, well maintained, enough space for semi-privacy. Free shuttle bus stop to all Bar Harbor and Acadia sites which is hard to beat.
No bugs, at least in mid-August.
The no reservations model was a bit scary to consider but we arrived at 9pm (closed) , parked in the overflow lot with their permission and found a full hook-up site in the morning in peak season (rare but still possible from what I hear so roll the dice).
Ate at "Mainely Meat" many times which is almost on property via a very short path. Excellent BBQ, lobster and breakfast. Even a superb ice cream place attached. Avoid the Log Cabin Resteraunt across the street.
No cable TV but over the air TV works fine at the higher elevation sites. A very safe bet to stay at when in Bar Harbor.

Bar Harbor Campground
Centrally Located, Clean, no reservation s but not an issue except for arriving on Friday or Thursday middle of summer. We came July 17th on a Tuesday, big rig 42’, nonproblem, several open spots and observed opening the whole 9 days. Quiet, bus access to downtown. Very reasonably priced at 46 $ per night with 50 amp service. I will be back.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Decided to stay an extra day. $40 per night, no reservations needed, pick any spot with amenities you want. Close to everything! Very affordable considering other campgrounds around. Very clean. Would stay here again.

Cash only and no reservations taken. Ocean view sites are nice but you will smell the dump every time it is used and it is used a lot. Laundry is awesome at $1 per machine which gets you 1 hour of dry time.

Best Campground
I really like that they don't take reservations. I came at 8am and found a site with water and electric for as long as I want it. Other campgrounds had a night here or there, or never called back. I ended up staying 7 days (7th night free!) The bus picks up at the entrance and runs every 30 minutes. I was able to explore the entire island on foot and on bike (bike racks on buses are great!) The tent sites are in the trees, and rv sites are more open. Bonus is pool and laundry.

The Good And Bad
The good: nice layout, hospitable staff, views of bay from certain sites, clean.
The bad: $0.25 to shower, weak wifi, surcharge for 50amp site even if you only want 30amp.

Bar Harbor
This was a good campground. Sites were OK but we only had 30 amp. Quiet at nights. No reservations which can be good or bad. Overall we had a good stay.

Beautiful Campground
While they do not take reservations, it's worth the drive & taking a chance. The grounds & all amenities are spotless. Loved the heated pool! Bar Harbor & Acadia are nearby. This has been a wonderful experience. The Mainly Meat Barbecue & Utter Heaven restaurant are practically across the street/ next door. The barbecue was excellent as was the lobster dinner. Very reasonable & great staff!

I Don't Know About This Place
We were 5 minutes down the road, I called & they said, "there was an open site... Come on in". We walked in the office & the desk clerk said, " Oh, don't have anything for you now" Less than 5 minutes? Are you for real?!

Retired
We have camped here many times in a 35' fifthwheel. Everything from a tent site to a 70' coach will fit here. Bathrooms are super clean as is the pool and laundry. It is located just 2 miles from Acadia NP and 4 miles from Bar Harbor. With Utter Heaven ice cream right next door this place is a no brainer.
