Great Host And Beautiful Place!

If your traveling by RV or Camper this is the best place to stay out of the 3 locations. It is owned by the Community of Christ Church and is up-kept pretty well. Ms Dawn runs the campground and is a great host. They have expanded a lot in the last 10 years. They have full hookups and some concrete level sites and fire rings which is one of my favorite things. They have unisex toilet and shower house, however it did have a lot of bugs in them, but after all it is camping. I got a tour of the whole place and they had some newer shed cabins that can fit a large family. In the newer cabins it has a queen bedroom, bathroom, couch that turns into sleeper, four twin mattress pads in the loft, and a kitchenette. They do not provide bedding for the mattress pads in the loft though. Lastly, they have a huge campground with cabins that other churches and or groups can rent. It has a lodge and other things as well for they large group gatherings. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Thankful During The Time Of Covid

This campground was empty as we pulled up on a Friday night besides a single RV. Bathhouses were closed due to COVID but Full hook ups were wonderful. Plenty of land for my kids to play but Mosquitoes were a doozy so bring the bug spray! Internet was non existent and even the hosts were having issues so they were unable to take our card to pay. Instead of sending us away to get cash, they said to go ahead and park as they would come find us whenever they got it fixed. We ended up paying and cash. Campground was clean, quiet, but slightly outdated. We were provided with wood for fires and we are thankful.

3 Choices

Nauvoo is tough for an extended stay. If you’re just staying the night then any park would be fine. You have 3 options. We’ve stayed at two of them. The State Park is beautiful. It has Water and power but no sewer. It’s the closest to the historical sites. Camp Nauvoo has full hookups but absolutely zero internet or cell reception. The park is very rundown. These are the two we stayed at. The third option, which was my last choice just might be your best option. It is small but has cell reception and full hookups. It’s right in the business district and neighborhood. It’s a tough stay in Nauvoo.

Needs Investment And Renovation

The manager is sweet and very helpful. The facility is very dated and run down. It is in a great location if you are visiting Nauvoo.

The campground is located across the street from the old Mormon town of Nauvoo which is historical significant. They do Free performances in period costumes, and it is not to be missed.

A Very Scenic Park

This is run by RLDS but they welcome everyone. It's located along the Mississippi, and the grounds are lush and spacious. Showers look good, though we didn't use them. Laundry consists of one each washer/dryer located in the women's. There's a coin laundry in downtown Nauvoo that our GPS failed to tell us about.
