Up Up Up!
If you’re scared of heights, this campground is not for you. Around 9,000ft, you are up there. The road up is roughly paved, but you seriously climb at a high grade-probably 800’ up from Highway 150. Going down with just our truck in 2nd gear it would not hold it back. The sites themselves, meh, we’ve had nicer, but they are seriously separated which is nice. No water, so head up to the Sand Dunes for water and dump station. Compared to Piñon Flats campground in GSDNP, it’s not as nice, but much easier to get a larger trailer in to and not on top of each other. Our 28’ trailer would have only fit in a handful of sites in the park. Here we had more options and room. If you’re heading to GSDNP and don’t need hookups, this is a nice stay for $11/night!

Very rocky and bumpy.
The road up is fairly steep and VERY rocky. We have a Ram promaster with low clearance and made going Very very slow. Once there "Which seemed like forever " it is nice quiet and open with good views. Low clearance vehicle watch for the larger Mellon size rocks.

Great Site Amazing Views
Pay box was "out of order" so their was no charge. I am guessing they shut it down for the winter. Lots of sites. We made it up the road, very wasboarded in spots, with our 26' trailer and truck. Slow and steady climb. Only one other person and they camped away from up. Bear proof food storage bins at every site. Garbage and recycling bins at the entrance. Water was off at this time of year.

Great Camping
The road coming in is a slow steady climb the whole way in off the highway, very rough but not bad enough you can't make it with any type vehicle. Once you get here though the campsite is very nice. Lots of room between site. I would say half of the sites could fit a 30- 35 foot trailer. The rest being tent sights. $11 a night

Awesome. Lots of sites and a camp host. The access road needed to be graded badly. Be prepared if your rig is old. Very rocky.
