Camp back on the ridges. Heavy fast moving traffic. Dangerous road on the weekend. Heavy beer drinkers piloting high powered ATV, jeeps and trucks... Free 14 day camping if you can last that long. Riotous teenage parties abound on Saturday nights.

Dusty And Brutal Mosquitos

Felt like I was camping in a gravel pit, but add cars flying by your site at 65mph, dust everywhere and mosquitos so bad they make the ones up north seem like your average fly. Never again.

Great spot but too dusty. There were some car, ATV’s and trucks that would slow down when passing campsites! And some didn’t give a dam!

Sites close to the road... Lots of dust and off road vehicle noise... Nice canoeing and kayaking.

Bring Bug Spray

We visited Mittry Lake in late March and camped between a trail head and the marshy water. Had we not had our mosquito net hats and Off!, we would have been in worse shape. They seem to appear just after sundown. Considering it's a free campground and people can boat, kayak or go off-roading, it was a decent place to camp. However, we noticed that people ignore that there are dumpsters for their trash on the way out and leave it behind. The sunrise, sunset and variety of wildlife you see make up for that though.
