Stayed at this park for 6 nights for a reunion, they have really cleaned this park up, there are some long-term campers but everything was clean and quiet in the park, some road noise could be heard at times, I was on C row which has paved parking sites

Good, Bad, & Ugly
There was some good, bad, and ugly here. The good: relatively good location, friendly staff, normal KOA amenities, level sites, and abundant shade in most areas. The deluxe sites had patios, chairs, fire ring, and a swing. Wi-Fi worked OK. There were numerous doggie waste stations stocked with bags. The bad: occasional noise from planes, trains, and ambulances, aging utilities in many sites (sewers only covered by bricks, uncovered electrical panels, leaking faucets). The ugly: derelict trailers that belonged in the RV ghetto. All said, we’d probably return but not as our first choice.

Very quiet Campground
The area around the campground isn’t the greatest but the campground itself was nice. The staff was very friendly. The sites near the front can see the security lights from the 7-11, but the ones in the back are pretty secluded feeling.

Disappointed
We chose this place via this app as we drove down the road (while having spotty cell service). I really wished I had read the reviews first. Luckily we were only looking for nightly hook.ips as we passed through town, it serves it's purpose. This is WAY over priced. This was out first time staying at a KOA and honestly expected much better. It was very tight as your neighbor is super close. As others mentioned (I now realize), the gravel has not been put down for MANY years. It rained the morning we left. Packing up in wet is one thing (lucky rain had just stopped) but add mud to the mix makes it all just horrible as water is much easier to dry than cleaning mud from inside TT and the vehicle. We ended up carrying the dog to the truck in order from keeping him
from getting muddy. Several what appeared to be long term campers which were rather unsightly. If the price had been half of what it was I wouldn't have expected better. Figured we were paying premium due to KOA, wrong and sad.

Nothing Special
A decent place to stay for few days when visiting the area, but as others have said this is not on par with other KOA's we have stayed at.

Needs Work For The Price
Laundry room is open air but clean, bathroom are dated but clean, pool is clean but not heated, so temperature is weather controlled. A little chilly early May but getting better at the end of May. parking is a little tight, WiFi is iffy, cable has lots of channels, hookups need up grade along with most of the parking areas in general. Staff has ben very nice for our three week stay. Road noisy during the day but pretty quiet at night. Airplanes going over most days, but not every night. There is a train crossing a mile or so away but only one or two trains a day, and far enough away so it’s not too noisy. Quite a few permanent residents but all seem pretty friendly. All the common indoor recreation areas were closed due to the covid19 restrictions, so can’t comment on them. Office has a small convenience store for forgotten items.

Monthly Visit
Does this campground offer month to month? I've call three times and get different answers.

Surprised Its A KOA
We write always write reviews and praise those that are good and comment on those needing improvement. I agree with some of the other reviews, way to pricey for this place. It houses so many year round campers that it has become very rundown . Not typical of how we’ve experienced KOA’s in the past. Site are way to tight and close to your neighbor. Park in mud or grass and when it rains it’s quite flooded.
If you just stay overnight they put you up at the front where it’s much nicer, but if you stay loner then that they place you in the dump.
We won’t be renewing our KOA membership anymore after this. To many other nicer campgrounds available today to stay in a place like this.

Pricey For What You Get
They are well organized and can tell you quickly if a site is available. Quiet at night and traffic is far away from campground. They pick up trash twice a day and the provide the bags. We never use bathhouses so I can’t say anything about it but assume they keep them clean.
Sites haven’t been gravel in a while so you walk on mud and a mixture of gravel and lawn when it rains. The lawn around picnic table is not mowed regularly so when it rains you walk on wet grass, not nice. For that price sites should be concrete.
Our water spigot was dripping even when hooked up to our hose. We hardly spent time in there because we had business to in town and came to sleep only or briefly in and out during the day. Very little competition so they know people will pay the high price.
More like a 3 and a half stars and I would gladly pay that price again but wish they would do more to make it look special.

Expensive In My Book
Paid 53.00 for a back in site that was 1/4 mile from showers. I was all sweaty by the time I walked back to my camper. Pool looked nice. Showers were nice but dirty at night. The night crew should check them before leaving. There was poop all over both toilets that I had to clean myself so I could use. Also need a code for the bathroom and if you forget codecor towel or anything get ready for a long walk back to camper to get. It got the job done but higher price than expected for all the inconveniences.

Nice Park
Nice wooded park with big sites for our 36 ft motorhome. It was an easy drive to Charleston for sight seeing. There’s a piggly wiggly just down the street. The entrance is used by both the park and a trailer home so don’t panic as you enter, just turn right and head into the koa. I used the laundry facilities and that was ok. The pool looked nice but I never got in it.

Not Fancy, But...
There is NOT a waterslide here! Maybe there used to be, but don’t get your hopes up from the picture someone posted. Some sites are muddy, but they are updating and we were on a nice concrete pad with a swing bench, fire pit and table with chairs. It’s a 1/2 hour drive from Charleston, but honestly there are not a lot of RV parks much closer. Staff is friendly. There are laundry facilities, a small park setting for kids, horseshoes, rec room and an oversized chess board. We were here for 4th of July and there was a big empty field next door to do fireworks in, so that was awesome. Not the fanciest place ever, but if your site-seeing in the area this is a decent spot.

Good, With Some Flaws
Clear, level site. Nice layout of roads. Safe playground for kids. Reliable electric. Water was off-again on-again most of the time. Wi-Fi is useless. ("You are not connected to the internet.")
As others have observed, they are not "in Charleston," but they are only a mile off I-26, and outside the suffocating claustrophobia of 300 year-old streets. About 20-30 minutes from most places in and around Charleston.

Basically A Trailer Park
Lots of full timers and very very cramped. The smell was bad and the site was extra muddy. Next door is an actual trailer park.

Not Again!
Discouraged. I thought I was going to CHARLESTON, like place states. You are 35 minutes north. Very "hick" Lot of full time people live there , even out of tents. Bathroom CLEAN. Staff awesome. ..but hope not to be back. False advertising calling them " Charleston "
