A real trash dump

Absolutely Not
Almost pulled in for a weekend stay. The entrance had a huge mud puddle that you couldn’t navigate around. Which was my first red flag. From the road it looked so run down that we wouldn’t even pull in. Tarps were hanging from trees, trash was everywhere. It was not welcoming looking. In all honesty it looks like an inner city homeless encampment.
There is no way I was going to pull my rig in there!
It’s dirty and does it look safe. Not for us!
Sad because it’s a great location.

Never again
Very old and tired campground. Run down puts it mildly. At least they could clean it up. Trashy and stinky.
If you love lots of prowling cats you might like this place

Looking For New Places to Camp
Judging by the reviews I can't see myself staying here

Run The Other Way.
The bathroom stalls and showers have no locks. There is a torn back seat to a car in the ladies bathroom. Bags of trash everywhere. Road to sites were horribley rutted with tree roots sticking out. Sites were not marked so it was a guessing game as to the spot they gave you. Not level and trashy. Should be shut down. It is the only time on this road trip that I locked my doors at night, got my personal protection out and put it within easy access.

Needs Upkeep
Nice pool...shadey sites...water smells...grounds are dirty The drives are like a roller coaster. There were beer cans and dirty baby diapers beside our campsite. Water in the bath house smelled like rotten eggs. Our water faucet had no handle on it, even after a three day notice. Flies were plentiful.

Don't Believe The Hype
This place may have a bunch of full time folks but they keep to themselves and don't bother anyone. Lady who runs it has no problem calling police on trouble makers. Place is quite old so it does look run down some but in all fairness it isn't that bad. First time I went to Wilmington we stayed there for few months. Never had a problem with having stuff stolen, being bothered etc. ( I try to stay there whenever I am at the beach now) If you are the type who thinks you're better than everyone else then this isn't the place for you. If you enjoy other folks who like living the RV life then this place is great. They do have well water but it's free. Not any worse than city water. You can walk from here to beach or other activities on Carolina Beach. Nice park down the road and also cut that links ocean to Cape Fear river is just a 5 min walk away.

Stay Away
80% of campground is occupied by permanent campers. Place looks more like a camper dump then a family campground. No restrictions on what you can or cannot store around your place. Anything goes as long as you pay your fee. I agree with a previous review, place should be condemned.

Not My Cut Of Tea
Not for me. I did like how close it was to beach. But I think there water is well water with no filter. No TV. The internet was ok.It just needs a little TLC.

Undesirable
Ok where to start. No cable, and with antenna 3 channels early in the morning. After morning now. Does no good to move antenna. Some of the campers look like they were just left to rust. All dirt and VERY OLD PLACE. Needs serious upgrade and cleaning. All I can say is the city or county needs to come in and condemn. Almost forgot, the eater smells like rotten eggs.

Rustic Charm
We stayed 4 nights during the week. Loved the high canopies and beautiful blooming azaleas. Was right by the river. Perfect access for fishing or biking to the beach. There are mostly full timers parked here for beach access.
