Nice campground
Love camping here if it is dry, some sites have very little grass and this along with no paved area aside from parking area allows a lot of dirt to be tracked into the camper. Great place to bring the kids, playground is within view of a bunch of sites. The park itself has been neglected due to budget cuts driven by Ky pension issues, but the campground gets as much attn as any other facility in the park. Prices are very reasonable.

Because of previous reviews we were hesitant to stay here, but I am so glad we did. The park is beautiful! Contrary to a prior review, the bathrooms were clean and the staff was very nice. There is a lodge on the grounds with a restaurant which we did not try. There is an observation point which provides a magnicent view. One of the bathrooms contains laundry facilities; however, the only dryer was out of order. We had a very pleasant stay here and will definitely return.

Staff was great
BATHROOMS however were disgusting...think that had more to do with the type of people camping Labor Day weekend but it was the worst we have seen.
The park has a lot to offer however everything is extremely spread out from everything so you would need to take a vehicle to do anything.
Kids said the parks were nice though and they had plenty of them
Also the laundry facility consisted of 2 washers and 1 dryer that was broken so not to pleased about that either.....:(

Great Facility, Needs Attention
Mid August and spending 3 nights at General Butler to try out new RV for first time and to explore a new area, close to home. (About 1 hr. Distance)
There is a lot available for a tourist. Small lake, nice buffet a the lodge, historical sites to visit, lots of walking trails and local things to see and experience.
Specifically, however, the campground is well maintained esthetically. It is well laid out and although sites with sewers are limited, we were able to get one and are we thankful for that!
The bathhouses at this State Park campground remained filthy throughout our three night stay even after we witnessed maintenance staff go in to apparently clean! The floors were nasty, shower stalls deplorable, sinks dirty and covered with hair, empty hand soap dispenser, and I wouldn't take my dog to do business in there as dirty and nasty as the toilets were.
It is unfortunate that staff is not attentive to the bathhouses at this campground. Again, I am thankful our RV has facilities!

What a beautiful park! We took a pull through spot but could have gone on over a couple loops and had water a lot closer. We have white tail deer right out side. Beautiful!

Liked It Better Than Thougt
I like big trees and this park has them. Decent amenities. Nice people. Cabins and lodge. They relocated campers to a few short hours at pool this would be the only negative. Some activities.
