For A COE, Just Ok
We stay at a LOT of COE campgrounds because they're almost always very nice with lots of privacy. The first thing we noticed with this one is how close the sites are to each other. Then, the turnaround loop at the end of the road was very small. We have a 35' TT towed by an F250. I jack-knifed the rig into the truck, trying to turn around...and I ran across the grass on both sides. The county now manages and does the reservations by phone only. As of right now you can't reserve online. Though they were helpful, this was still new to them and it was very difficult. They didn't know how to apply the senior card. He thought we charge full price then do a refund when we check in and show our card. We still don't know what we were finally charged. As others said, though, the CG is very clean and well kept. We didn't use the shower or toilets - they were too far away. Only 3 bathhouses for 5 loops, so they're pretty spread out. Oh, big rigs can't get into the dump station.

Fabulous Park
By far the best park we’ve stayed at. Huge shady lots. All waterfront. There’s not one bad site! Only draw back is no sewage connection. Also don’t understand why the close the park from October 17-March 22! That’s ridiculous.

Outstanding Visit!
One of the nicest federal or state parks we have stayed in. Most sites are on the lake, level, very clean and spacious. They also have nicely mowed grass and shade trees.

Beautiful Campground
We spent one night here in July. It was in the 90s when we set up and then high 80s the next day. But by late that night/early in the morning there was strong wind coming from the lake and it got pretty chilly. Maybe high 50s or low 60s. Not sure if that’s a common occurrence or a freak thing that happened the night we stayed. Clean campground with a couple nice beaches. The spots have a fire pit & a separate grill for cooking. Some spots are better than others. We stayed in 52 in a tent & it was shaded with an awesome view of the lake and sunrise. Bikes would be helpful since the bathroom is so far. And rafts, beach chairs & umbrellas for the beach could come in handy.

Our Favorite Place
We have camped at Old Federal for several years. The roads are paved, wide and easy to navigate. The sites are level. Beautiful views of the lake from almost every site.
Exceptional camp hosts, we’ve seen the same team for several years.
Only downside is the weekends (Fri/Sat) get booked up super fast so you’re out of luck on that. Holiday weeks are usually full also.
Plenty of space for kids to ride scooters or bikes. Nice beach area (no lifeguard). For those with a boat there is a ramp.
We stay here often and it’s our #1 local pick.

Old Federal is ran by host's who don't give enough information when inquiring about rules and regulations. Campground is pretty but the host's will ruin your experience and make you never want to stay at an Army Corp Campground ever again. They will threaten you with citations and federal court when you stand up for yourself after they've inaccurately assessed an event (i.e. blame you for someone else's actions). They will also fabricate a story when speaking with the Park Ranger in order to save face. Although we were paying customers, the Park Host belittled us and for that we felt so uncomfortable and ended up leaving. We will never come back to Old Federal, and you might want to think twice about it as well unless you enjoy paying for a service and in return you get Park Host's intimidating and belittling you.
