Rv Travel Over Nighter
This is a best kept secret but hard not to share. Great site, on the Ohio River, free potable water, free dumpsite with paved lighted river walk. Free electricity. This is worth a stop over. We loved it and it was 45 degrees when we were here. Can stay up to two nights free. How can you not appreciate this free rv camping.

It’s Free.
As a free site, you really can’t do much better. This is a city park with a playground. There are only 3 spots to the right of the playground that is separated by a gate and it’s on a first come basis. (About a 10 minute drive from the interstate. We were able to get a spot, but only because someone was leaving due to the electricity not working. We have a generator, so no problem for us, it was just for the night anyway. It is right on the river-a beautiful view, paved sited with picnic table, no water. However, drinking water and dump station at entrance. It’s also on a main road, so you have to drown out the noise with your A/C. I don’t know if the electric being off was a temporary issue or not, so be prepared to boondock if you do get a spot. And there wasn’t anyone around to ask, but apparently the gate gets locked at 8pm so you have to be there before then to try for a spot. Kroger (with gas pumps) and McDonalds directly across the street. Good AT&T signal. Again, free.

Closed (Covid-19)
We stopped here for a quick overnight but were disturbed by a cop around 9:00 PM. He told us the park was closed due to covid-19 and asked us to leave. He told us we could boondock at the old Kmart parking lot down the street. The playground at the park was taped off but there were no signs or any indications that the park was generally closed. We didn’t feel safe at the park. There were also used condoms in the parking lot.

Loved It!
Aside from the road noise, it was so worth the stay! We managed to score the last free spot that had electric hookups. Beautiful views of the changing colors across the water. Adding to the favorite finds.

Paved, Free, Clean, 1st Come 1st Serve
We set out for MD from the dealer we bought our rig from on Friday 8/9 and stopped here for the night.
Don't bother calling ahead, there are only 3 with 30 amp hookups- 1st come 1st serve. The sites were nice, clean and on the river. Oh and FREE!
The Kroger across the street was convenient and the road noise was no issue for us. We highly recommend giving it a shot!

Beautiful River front Park
Only three sites with electric only at each site but fresh water and sewer dump at the entrance.
Sites are generously paved and have trees. There is a children's play ground, boat launch and some covered picnic areas and public restrooms.
The sites are next to the road so there is some street noise but that didn't cause us any problems.
It was nice to see the million dollar homes just across the river.
Lights come on at dusk so that gives a sense of security.
This is a city park and they ask that you make a donation to the park fund.
I have rated it three stars only because of the inconvenience of having water and sewer dump away from the campsites.
It is a beautiful place

What a great little find! Thank you! We were coming through on our way west and stopped overnight in our 40' Class A. Electricity was not on but that was okay. With 20 degree winter weather it was a great overnight.

Went to St. Albans from Ohio for visiting hrs. For a friend's father. Stayed at this site in our rv van. We pleasantly surprised, especially when we learned it was free. Thank you city of St. Albans. Another nice touch, there is a Kroger across the highway open 24.

You Can't Beat Free
This is a beautiful spot situated on the Kanawha River. It has electric at each site and dump/drinking water station when you pull in. There are only 3 RV slots and no reservations are accepted. Our 35 ft 5th wheel fit easily and we had plenty of room to park our duley truck. The only downside is that it is on a high traffic road, but the noise isn't too bad. We would definitely stay here again.
