Not open year around and can be closed during the fire season, BUT it's a wonderful park\campground. Sites are small (18ft max) and not so level. It's quiet as a rock except in the morning when the first birds awake. I personally love to hear them.
Trails are worth the stay if even for an afternoon. Park is half way up the butte and a trail will take you to the top for a jaw dropping vista to the south. Continue walking up the ridge for more views to the north and a return through the forest.
The park maintains lots of grass under the pines with picnic tables and children's entertainment area.
