Wonderful Park
We have stayed here a few times now as one nighters and have enjoyed it very much. They have rules for the park and enforce them. Those that complain about the park probably don't like the rules, so go somewhere else.

Facilities are nice, noisy by the highway and run by the gestapo. We were across the street from the office but if someone came to pick up my wife they had to pay $8 unless she met them at the office.

Over Rated By Good Sam
We gave this place a try over Memorial Weekend with other travelers. Rated 9 stars with Good Sam and mixed reviews online from other sites. Bad vibes from the get go upon registering. Got worst for my brother-in-law with golf cart rental, and guest coming following day. Thought I was in a work release camp and checked on at every corner. A lot of other campers mentioned same feeling. Want be back and notified Good Sam their rating is inaccurate.

Our Inaugural Trip was Fantastic!
We chose Candy Hill Campground as our first stop with our brand new travel trailer and now we are spoiled forever!
We took the trip to beautiful Winchester VA to get to know our new rig and work out the kinks.
We could have not had a better experience. The campground is very clean, easy to maneuver, and led by a helpful, friendly staff both at registration and docking.
Our site was great, the trees and fire pit were awesome, perfect firewood!, and our neighboring campers were friendly.
Karl and family, Eddie, Jonathan and the whole staff were all wonderful and very generous with their help and time.
As newbie first time campers, we had a few rookie issues and the owner Karl was very patient with us and gave us great solutions and advice which we will now use everytime we camp.
We will return soon and we can't wait! Thank you to Candy Hill for a great experience.

Great Stop
Very nice campground, The grass is like a golf course. One of the few campgrounds that has a real store.

Unpleasant
Owner is downright nasty. Went to pick up my aunt and uncle to go to dinner and he came chasing me down, yelling because I did not register or pay the $5 visitors fee. I live locally and have heard many of similar stories.

RUDE!
The Owner Carl “aka nurse ratchet” is a cold heartless tyrant and Winner of the most pathetic person of the year award.
We will never camp at Candy Hill ever again even if it were FREE!

Spacious ❤
Pleasant and polite at the desk. Not overly friendly but that was fine. Great size pull thru concrete pad was complimented with a 6 seater glass table top and 4 lounge chairs. Great fire pit. Next to highway but not very loud. Easy access. Great pool. Very clean. Grass off pads kept thick and green. No complaints here.

Will NOT Stay Here Again!
As soon as we pulled in, we were surprises at the rudeness! As we pulled around a rig, trying to back into their spot, we parked next to the camp store. A man came and said we “blew their stop sign”. We tried to explain that we were in the way of another rig & just wanted to get out of their way. He could care less. Then my husband went into the store to check in and the women there made a rude comment too. Within 3 minutes of getting there, we were treated like misbehaved children by 2 different people. We honestly, just thought we were being polite & just wanted to give the other rig space, to get into his site. Had another problem when we asked about the $5 WiFi fee. We didn’t use WiFi once while we were there. Was told it was because we booked online and next time just call instead. First, we won’t stay here again, second, just call it an online booking fee. The positives...dog park, cleanliness, location don’t even out the rudeness & unfriendly atmosphere.

Nice And Friendly
Stopped on our way through to Florida. Great for people who have dogs. Nice fenced dog area. Some areas can be loud from the highway. Very friendly staff. We like more private but it is clean and well kept.

This campground is beautiful, very clean, spacious, big rig and small camper friendly. The staff is professional and helpful. Our favorite staff guide was a man named Tom !!!!

Stayed one night. We got the last site. It next to the highway. Got a great night sleep! At home the RR tracks are near by, so noise was not an issue. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Will stay again on our way south.

This place is great. No negatives. Very well stocked store. Staff was professional and helpful. Don’t hesitate to stay here. Nice level sites.

Campsite was just OK, the pads are a little short so if you’re driving anything over 40 feet you will leave the camper on the roadway it’s self and not on the slab. Campsites for pull through extremely close to one another. Highway very close, you can hear the traffic throughout the night. Other than that, the store had plenty to offer and the service was fine with a very large dog enclosed area for you Pat.

Great park camped here I November. Easy to get to everything is close to the park (stores and restaurants). The showers were clean but older needed updating but usable. Sites were close and road noise can get loud.

Really Nice!
This place is surprisingly nice. Has at least three or four playgrounds also has horseshoes has really nice pool has shuffleboard basketball all the lawns are cut very nicely almost all sites have macadam or some have crushed stone, all are pretty much level. Yes the bathrooms are old but they are immaculate.

Nice Campground
First time here and except for the road noise it was a nice campground. Grounds are well maintained and the sites are on different levels giving you an illusion of privacy and space. There is a pool and bathhouse although we did not visit since we were only her for a night. Price was high but nothing else in the area had openings. We would stay here again.

Hostile Mgmt, Disabled Campers Unwanted
Emily and staff seemed nice except Carl. Carl is awful. Called ahead. I use a wheelchair and my aide was helping me check site/facility accessibility before booking. He ran into main office to ask if we could look. We got 30 feet by car in the park when Carl came up in golf cart to chase us off. Told us we couldn’t drive “had to walk” and that he’d just sold out. Wheelchair explanation did not change his mind about on foot. We went to office to check “sold out” (seemed like a lie, vacant spots everywhere). It was a lie. There Carl tried to get rid of me -“there is nothing to see here [in the park]”- and asked rude personal questions -“is your aide your boyfriend”. ??!!?? Left, disgusted.

Expensive
Tiny sites. Overly bright at night. Clean. Site not level. Considerably more expensive than comperable places

The women's bathroom are outdated with blue tile and had an odder. This place is expensive, over $40 for just water and electric. Glad I'm only here for one night. You can hear the traffic on route 81.
The yard is keeped up. They have a good game room.

Nice Place Sufficient For Short Stay
Well kept, small sites sufficient for short stay but wouldn't want to stay for extended time. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is a pool with hot tub that we didn't have time to use. Easy access to interstate.

Craft Vendor
We had a great experience! The gentleman at the front desk was very nice, friendly and helpful. Bath house was nice. Tent site was on the larger size. Beautifully kept campground! They were full on the weekend we stayed, I was very thankful for the strict rules. They are in place for everyone's safety. We will DEFINITELY return to Candy Hill for a stay.

Very small campsites. Higher end on the price range. You have to pay for the WIFI. One of the owners is not very customer friendly.
