The Truth

1 star for convenience, 1 star for full hookups but it ends there. This KOA gives those within the KOA umbrella a bad name. Nothing fancy, ok for one night, didn’t feel safe, road/spaces gravel, trees and narrow roads make it difficult for larger rigs. Do not arrive at night. Long term tenants occupy 95% of the park $35 a night is robbery. Sites not cleaned after each use. Arrived to trash, cigarettes butts, dog poo all over our site. The person that gave a 5 star review must live in their car. Would we stay here again? Prolly not. Dear wife checked us in when we arrived, said office attendant was brain dead and rude. NOT big rig friendly, noticed three drive through and keep going. Don’t get me wrong I do appreciate being able to stay at a park with full hookups, but this place is hands down on of the least desirable KOA’s that we have stayed in and we travel a lot. If your options are limited, stay if you wish, just know this place is a slight upgrade to a fWalmart parking lot.

Bath house has no ventilation, fans or cooling. Most of the window don’t open. Feels like a sauna in July. The 3 showers share a shower pan with a drain only in the middle shower, so if you are in the middle you will have other people’s soap/shampoo etc. on your feet. That’s just gross. Most of the spaces are taken by permanent campers. We only stayed 1 night and did not use pool or laundry but both looked fine.

Nice one day lay over. Nice little down home restaurant down Tin Top road called Mary’s in Tin Top. About an eight minute drive. Catfish, Shrimp, etc. good old fashion food. Worth the stay.

We stayed at the Weatherford KOA May 23, 2019. Everything about it was lovely. We especially appreciated the helpful friendly attitude of Denise, the manager. I highly recommend this KOA.

Not Up To KOA Standards

When you stop in a KOA, there is a level of polite service that is usually there. Not at this KOA. We stopped on an especially hot Saturday afternoon. There were quite a few long term renters in the back, but to be fair, our spot in front was a pull thru with a nice shade tree and quiet. (watch out for the ants-they BITE!) Dog amenities were good. (although it makes me nervous having the camp host follow, inspecting my clean up job after my dog.) When we checked in, their handout said pool was open until dusk, but it was chained closed at 4:30pm. We asked if host could open the pool for a quick swim, he was belligerent and rude. “It’s closed. What makes you so special?” he snapped. “NO!” Based on other campers reactions, we weren’t the first to hope for a sip that hot day. Really unnecessary. Bathroom typical older KOA, they were fine. I won’t recommend because of such hostile, rude behavior by Gary. They should definitely clarify the “rules” and amenities available when checking in.

Nice Overnight Stop.

We were due for a day or two rest stop. Once past the DFW area (westbound), we found this place. Close to I-20, yet no traffic noise. Clean, Safe, and all the amenities needed. Lots of stores close by. We highly recommend it.
