I understand rustic charm, but this spot needs some love and maintenance to make it really good.

Very basic RV site. Some long term residents. Hookups work which I guess is about all you can ask for. Lots of burrs so be careful walking your dog. Self check-in which is explanatory once you walk into the office/trailer. Sign does not lit up on the side traveling into Marfa so keep your eyes peeled if coming in atvnight. Wouldn't stay here more than a night or two.

Interesting
Like Marfa, this RV park is simple, basic, and expensive. There are 14 sites, j ust off Highway 10 and just east of town. Gravel sites, tumbleweeds and very basic services, including no one to check you in. We thought the value of the site would be closer to $15, and were surprised to be charged $29. We would've preferred to stay 22 miles away in the town of Alpine and drive to Mara, than to stay here.

First of all, I'm giving 4 stars because there isn't an RV park in the desert that's truly an oasis... That said, this is as close as it gets. An occasional train passes by (once or twice a night) on the back property line (150 yds). There are like 14+- spaces plus a tent area which is nice and small. Self check-in simplifies everything. Very clean shower and toilet facilities. Single washer n dryer, kitchen facility and an attached outdoor (covered) seating area to gather and have a cold one. Electrical, water and sewer are what they should be. When you wake at sun-up, the cottontails are waiting for you and are actually approachable. Last but certainly not least, the manager, Terry (former US Marine) is a great guy even tho he previously hailed from Chicago, not to be held against him because after all he did make it to Texas a few years back and decided to make it his home. This little park is a great stop. Has everything and nothing at the same time. Washers, clean showers, fire pit, close to town and Marfa lights. No trees but nice. If you love trains you'll love this stop.
