Nice and Quiet
First time we stay in a State Park in this area and didn’t have a chance to meet the hosts but I can see they do a good job keeping the place in order and clean. Park Ranger is a very sweet and friendly lady.
Bathrooms are dated but clean, two stalls only and busy weekends could be a problem. State should get a loan and build bigger and better bathrooms and repay loan charging 36 a day instead of 26. Shower head is low at about 5’ 6”
This time of the year I had no problem finding a site and had no issues with mosquitos either but then again we didn’t spend much time in the park itself because we were here to do some business in Summerville. Took one star because dumpster is about a mile away and had to drive every day.
Site 12 has a little slope on the back and it was perfect for our RV since we didn’t have to raise the front wheels.
Will come back and try either of the two sites with full hookups if available

The Best
The best little campground in South Carolina, with very little cell service, but If you're looking for a float down the river, peace and quiet, great fishing this is the place.

Great little park for a getaway. Some sites do have full hookups but very few. We have pets and stayed right across from the campground hosts. They didn't bother us at all! The Edisto river is a short walk away! Great for kayaking if you can handle the currents. Great for swimming and tubing. Nice park for kids and a small beach area.

Cheap Option Near Charleston - RUDE Host
Nice small park. Stayed in one of the full-hookup sites and had decent privacy. The spots are level and are packed sand/dirt. One hour from Charleston and about 20-30min to the closest town for supplies. The park features a 1.5 nature trail, access to Edisto River, a small cemetery, a couple of limestone sinkholes (gated off) and a resident hawk. We didn't use the showers, but they appear to be adequate. The state park staff is awesome! However, the campground host in #1, the Julian's from New York, was not professional. I returned home from grocery shopping and I have always been careful with my speed in campgrounds, however, pulling into the campground I was probably going a little faster than normal. Perhaps 8mph, instead of 5mph. I get out of my car and the host yells at me very unprofessionally. Scolding and yelling like I committed a murder. I sincerely apologized, I didn't know I was going so "fast". You calmly talk to people, not put them down. I'm not returning.

Love It
River is nice to swim in or to tube down. Can get busy on weekends when the local folk come out. Tap water is good and bathrooms are usually clean. Firewood was avail this summer at the rangers office. Stayed July 2018

This place has potential, but Labor Day week brought out the problematic people in the area. the police were called nightly, and drama like I've never seen or heard. The locals had already had their fair share of beer getting into the water at 11 am and were already feeling good as they headed down the river. It was an experience to say the least. However on a positive note the edisto river itself was quite pretty as we kayaked up river away from the crowds we were able to see many different kinds of birds, turtles, and get a little fishing in. The current was strong as it wAs a full moon but it was enjoyable.
