Wow
What not to like. We biked through the camp ground, took all loops and took about 40 minute's. We also hiked a near by trail 7 mile hike, loved it! Camp sites well spaced.

Bath Houses
Not sure why this is rated the best in the area. Yes the sites are great. But the bath houses on the other hand are nasty. They look like they haven't been cleaned in years. It was really bad. Have a pop-up so we have to use them for everything. For the high price of staying there there was no excuse. Will not be staying there again.

Relaxation
We took the trip to unwind from restricted travel beginning in March and we enjoyed our trip. I was able to work remote at #39. Our grandchildren are virtual with their school. The bathhouse near our site was clean. The Park staff were friendly. We have stayed at 7 South Carolina State Parks and HBSP is our favorite.

Hidden Gem
One of the best state campgrounds, separated camp sites. I fell in love with this place. All sites are on the water and even in the end of July we were able to be outside all day and it was comfortable, cool breeze from the river. The deer walk right up to your site. Bath houses are clean. Very quiet.

Nice, Would Return
Large, scenic, wooded sites. Clean campground and very spread out. Sites fairly level. Elec/water hookups at some sites are in odd locations. Bring at least 25 ft of water hose just in case...maybe more. Longer than average distances to restrooms. Part of the campground closed during cold months. Dark at night as there aren't street lights! Visitor Center fairly well stocked plus firewood. Dollar General and gas station (Payne's Grocery) a couple miles south. More gas stations about 5 miles south. Payne's Grocery is stocked fairly well and sells beer...closed at 3 on Sunday in Nov. Would return.

This is one of our favorite parks. The sites are level, at least one acre and heavily wooded. Feels like your own little cabin in the woods. The roads are paved and the park is very clean. Bathhouse needs to be updated. Staff is friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back.

This was the perfect place for a quiet weekend getaway. Couldn’t ask for a better view. The spaces are nice size with plenty of room in between. Off the main road for most spots you share a driveway with one other camp spot but one goes left and the other right. Far enough away from each other I hardly ever heard anything on either side. I have already picked my spot for my next visit! Oh - one bit of advice. There is only a gas station and family general store within 20 miles (they are only about 5 minuets from the park) so make sure you have everything you need, the trip to Walmart takes about 30 minuets each way!

Great Park
This park is a year round jewel. Great roads, bath houses, water sites, and great rangers. The price isnt bad. Sites are private and well maintained. Wildlife is abundant. The lake is fantastic unless the levels are low. Not to far from McCormick, Augusta or Aiken. Awesome place!
