The Steens!
We stopped in on a whim. We wanted to explore the Steens and found Steens Mountain Wilderness Resort a great place with all hookups. The location is good and appreciated that we had a place to park the rv while we toured.

Wish The Spots Were Level With Gravel
Great spot to get to Stein mountains. Otherwise - NO! Our spot was not at all level, very rough with very little gravel. They need to do some upgrades to the camping sites for sure. Some of the green areas for tents looked nice, but not for camping trailers. We had no desire to sit outside (granted it was hotter than hell). Picnic tables don’t line up and are 4’ down from where the trailer sits (really in the site Nextdoor). It is a few miles on a wash boarded gravel road which is best driven on VERY SLOW. But it is what it is! They BLM campground next door looked quite nice but not large enough for our vehicles…. Would have loved to stay there as it was lovely. The Stein mountains are an amazing sight to behold - well worth the trip.

Hookups For Hot Weather
If you want to explore the Steens Mountain Loop (and you should!) this is the closest place with an electric hookup so you can run the AC. It’s an OK place. The terrestrial view is not great, especially when looking at trailers they rent as cabins. But you can drop your trailer here while you make the drive, as the washboard gravel and steep slopes of the Steens loop are not trailer friendly. Nice clean restrooms (only for tenters)and a laundry to get the dust out too. And be sure to look up to the sky at night. Stars galore, and that fuzzy band running southwest to northeast is the Milky Way!

Solitude With A View
Far from anywhere, this remote yet well appointed rv park and cabins are well kept, spacious, and well positioned at the mouth of Blitzen Canyon. Great hiking trails are adjacent or a short drive from the property. The refuge is minutes down the road while Page Creek Campgeound (also very nice, cheaper, but no hook ups) and the Blitzen trailhead are too, in the opposite direction.
