Good Overnight Stop And Stargazing Spot
Small campground with not much around. A few of pull-through spots and several back on spots along the rock bluffs.
Not a ton to see or do other than hike and stargaze but, a good overnight stop.

Overnight Stay
We came in for a quick stop on our way to Colorado. Nothing was open when we got there, no camp host. The bathrooms were horrible. You could smell them as you were walking up. Glad we were in RVs and not tent camping.
Did encounter a rattlesnake and deer. But that’s what makes it exciting.

On The Hunt For Dinosaur Tracks
We stopped here while visiting the nearby dinosaur tracks. Ended up hiking The nature trail and then Black Mesa as well. Campsites are along one road, nicely spaced. No camp hosts (yet?) and visitor center was also closed.

Dark Skies
Adequate sites with 30 amp and water. Primitive dump station. Two short but rocky hiking trails near the campgrounds.
2 bars of AT&T.
Dark skies, great for astronomy or just drinking in the Milky Way. They are transitioning to reduced campground lighting to facilitate observing. Closest services in Boise City, 20 some miles. Lake is quite low.

Nice And Quiet
We stayed here in June. Cooler than we expected and quiet. Most water side tent camps were full but we found one remaining with some shade. There are a few with a lot of shade, a few with a little and some with none. The RV spots have very little. Nice people.

Could be a nice spot for stars except for all of the street lights. Go on the trail for that. Could be policed a little better, all along the water side camps dogs were free to roam and their owners not picking up after them along with not obeying the quite times way beyond midnight.

Great little hide-away. Nice clean with lots of quite and stars. Only problem is 27 miles of not to nice roads. But once past that you will love it. Will be back.
