Oklahoma Oasis
6/16/2022 - My son and I made it to our campsite (drive in Tent site #3) around 6:30pm. Drive up, freshly mowed grass in the nice flat and partially shaded site, that meanders down to a little beach site. The entire site is very well maintained; including nice table, lamp post and fire ring. Showers nearest our site were closed; no worries, farther west on loop road were very well maintained and working facilities (other than this, I would have given 5 stars vs. 4). I recommend making reservations prior to arrival, online. Also, be aware of large fire ant hills in sandy areas.

Beautiful Site By The River
There are several campgrounds in the area. This review is for the Salt Plains Campground. It is located just below the dam, before you get to the bridge.

Beautiful CG on the river, just below the dam. Plenty of shade. Site #32. Pull through with water and electric The sites are poorly numbered, so we had a bit of trouble finding our number. All ok. Concrete pad is nearly level. This is a busy, family Campground, seems fairly quiet. Just children playing.

Very interesting place because we went in mid October and they had lots of rain. Part of the park was flooded. The water running over the dam was high and amazing. I will post a video. There were pelicans everywhere!! We camped on river road by the dam loved it. Blow the picture up of me drinking coffee you can see all the Pelicans on the other side of the river. We did some hiking they mow the paths which is nice so you never get lost. The draw back was all the goat head stickers. Sandy beach camp ground was covered in goat heads.

The bridge is open. Fishing below the dam and river can be good at times. Not far to national wildlife refuge hiking and drive though trails. Moderately used and quiet.
