Bugling Elk, Wandering Turkeys …
Wow, what an experience! End of September 2021, we could hear the Elk Bugle, Turkey’s visited every morning, after roosting in the trees near our campsite overnight. Got to get up close and personal with Longhorns. We loved our campsite at Doris Campground and experiencing multiple days at Wichita Wildlife Refuge.

Wildlife Galore
We stay here a lot as we have family in the area. Fills up fast on weekends. We always try to get an electric site for our campers AC , etc. We were just there this weekend and saw turkey and deer in the campground. Also, a large group of elk just outside the campground. 23 electric sites and 93 tent sites I believe. This past weekend, just after a strong cold front and sub-freezing temperatures, every site was taken. Pretty amazing. Great place to get away.

A Good Get-way.
Site w/ electric is $20. Will visit again. However, first come first serve unless doing a group camp. A couple of turkey approached is when we were getting ready to leave.

My daughter and I go camping here quite often. We stay at the Doris campground in the witchita mountains wildlife refuge. It's really beautiful here. There are deer, turkeys, longhorn steers, buffalo and coyotes. It's busy during the holidays so get here early to pick a spot.
