Be Aware
On 8/25/23 - 8/27/23, WE went camping for the first time this year and left early that sunday morning. Which turned into a nightmare for my family on the following Monday 8/28/23 we had a social worker come out to investigate my family due to steel creek making a HUGE mix up on giving the wrong site number and wrong information to dss. AND All Steel Creek had to say was they are sorry!! Our life was turned upside down for over two weeks due to Steel Creek giving out wrong information. Shouldn't Steel Creek make sure they give the right information to a department like child protective services? The case was eventually closed because we were the wrong family, but now dss says it will always be on my husband's record with them that he was investigated for child abuse even when we were the wrong family to start with! a weekend that was supposed to be a nice and relaxing vacation turned into my husband having to lose time at work, lawyer fees, and emotional distress for my family.

First Time There And Last!
First off when I booked a pull thru site it isn’t really pull thru unless you get the before the person crammed in behind you! Needless to say we were like sardines!! The hook ups are a little far the sewer pipe needs fixing in most sites I saw! I feel like it could be a good place if they put some money back into it! Very run down! Definitely will not go back there!!!

Rollin Down The River
Great place to tube down the creek. Water is refreshing. Not really, it's cold. Camp ground is new, just planted several trees, so there aren't any shades and it get hot but 7:30. We were there in mid July and 90 degrees and no shade, but you have the creek. About a 20 minute drive into Morganton for groceries. They have Walmart, food lion and Ingles.

Great Campground
We absolutely love it at Steele Creek Campground. it has a great atmosphere for any age, young and not so young . The owners are very accommodating for all that come in. From tents and pop ups, travel trailers and big rigs . There is something here for everyone, hiking, biking, walking, and the gorgeous amazing river that runs through the campground. Love it here

Bad Customer Relations
My wife and I were planning a trip to the campground but after the way they treated the elderly gentleman today we will not be staying there.

No Stars
If I could rate it no stars I would. Over crowded and not accomodating.

Not What I Remember
I used to go here all the time when I was a child. I wanted to take my family here for our first RV camping trip. The park is now very overcrowded. They also say they are pet friendly. I have 3 dogs a pug, a toy poodle, and a rescue Doberman. While I understand a Doberman can look intimidating. My toy poodle is meaner than she is. My dogs had not made a single sound and we went for a walk. We were harassed by Park management and asked to leave. Understand that we passed several children on bikes several campsites and several other dogs on leashes and my dogs did not make a sound. We also saw a German Shepherds and pit bulls who were allowed to stay in the park. We ended up leaving and going to a park just down the road and had a wonderful time and our dogs were able to roam free and off the leash without anyone saying a word. We spoke to several other Campers at our new site and they said they will never go to Steele Creek Park again. They said it sucked, we agree.
