After reading a lot of negative reviews we booked to see for ourselves and it is a great little hidden gem. Access to the ferry is easy and staff is extremely nice. Camping spaces are nice and big. Stayed in spot 10 which is FHU. Only draw back is unless otherwise told you need to circle around by the stables if your rig is any length due to the fence and tight turn to access our sight. Pulling a 37ft travel trailer with Chevy 2500HD

Ok, BUT ….
This campground is under new management as of June 2022. This is a rather large layout campground with fairly spacious sites. My family stayed here in four sites, sites 50 and 51 were water and electric only sites. Sites 53 and 54 were full hookup sites. We reserved, four sites TOGETHER as soon as the old owners reservation system would allow back in January of 2022. The new owner chose to not honor that reservation. Thus inserting another site between our family reunion. Again, the campsites are spacious and mostly level. The four sites we occupied required a couple leveling blocks on one side. The electric is SPORADIC at best. We told the ‘new owner’ about open grounds on the 30 and 50 amp on sites 53 & 54 and were told an electrician would be in the following day. That NEVER happened, and IF it did, nothing changed. The 30 amp service on 53 & 54 kept tripping the connection breakers. My 50 amp surge protector kept tripping on 54, suggesting an unsatisfactory condition. NO WIFI !!!

Scenic, Basic
This is the place to go for a chill down. Nice views and sparsely populated. Bring your favorite book and DVDs. There is no cell service or internet. Too shallow for surf fishing, but good for swimmers especially beginners. Your shell hunting spouse will be dissappointed, there are none. Views at sunset are stunning. Some sites don't have sewer so ask. Water is a bit smelly so bring your own if that will bother. Enjoy.

Great Out Of The WayPlace
Views from every site are spectacular. Loved watching the sunrise, horses and cattle roam. Sparky's restaurant opens at 11:30AM. Motel is being restored. 12 rooms are complete. Can't beat the price. Can't get much more peaceful. Some trouble with intermittent water outage-but not A major problem. Heading out on the ferry to ocracoke this morning.

Nice CG
Next to ferry. Great views from lots on north side of CG. Nice beach but was windy in March. Food good in restaurant - only open in PM. Wild horses. Elec and sewer but hot water had a smell in bathhouse so we used water we had (could be because we were sort of off season). Stayed two nights. Staff is friendly. No cell, spotty WiFi. Nice and quiet. Don’t forget anything. Nothing else around for about 30 miles.

Beautiful Setting
Wild horses. Wild cattle. Abundant seashells. Sunsets! Excellent staff. Flaky electric and water. Spotty WiFi. No TV. We’ll be back for sure.

Beautiful scenery, friendly people
We had a beautiful spot near the water. The people are very friendly. But the showers were terrible. They are renovating the place according to the owner, but I thought $45 for 1 night was too much for the services they offered.
