Very Remote And Worth It!
The drive to Chaco is not for the faint of heart. When I ordered my Casita, I upgraded to the raised axel and aluminum alloy wheels because I knew I wanted to camp here in Chaco. Have camped here twice since getting the trailer and would advise RVers to secure everything and drive slow. (Especially the last few miles) There’s very little amenities in the campground. No electrical hook ups, but they do have potable water to fill up your tank and a dump station. Cell service is spotty at best - that’s only if you’ve hiked up to the top of one of the mesas. I invested in a 2 way satellite texting gps, have seen other campers use a cell booster that can extend high enough to pick up a faint single. In spite of all these down sides, this campground is worth it. The dark skies at night are breath taking. Getting to be in the park at first and last light are so worth all the hassle of getting to the campground.

Level, Extremely Remote, Ulta Dark At Ni
We almost chickened out on visiting Chaco but... we made it. Came in thru the northern access and left by the southern route. Both are semi-horrendous but the 57, 14, way was pretty wild. We had intended to stay couple days but left early due to expected rain and what that would do to the roads. Once in the park the roads and loop road are paved. Campsites are nicely spaced, very level, no shade but the canyon seemed to protect from wind when we were there. Some sites r closed due to rock slide. We did f-c-f-s but it was February and there were only about 6 other campers. No water in the park, no electric, no cell service (not sure how safe this is in case of emergency). BUT, we r sure glad we went, we saw, we experienced up close, we learned a lot, we hiked around the ancient sites and we r glad we came!!

Nice Campground
Beautiful views! Nice campsites, fire ring, picnic tables though no shade. Very clean bathrooms with flush toilets and 1 sink. Dishwashing station. The night sky is amazing.
